Getting the crowds back in

so less than Chelsea have spent this transfer window then.

0r 36 weeks of Manchester United's supposed wage bill last year

or 21% of the £1.2 billion they collectively are being paid by Sky this year

Yeah, I can't remember my source either, but I've definitely read that attendance revenues are pretty insignificant compared to other revenues for PL teams.

Inadequate referencing of source data.....you’ll do just fine on here sir

Define second wave. The figures in Spain are tiny.

Re U.K. differences. Local lockdown management. It’s working well.
Lifting of lockdown here has been slow and measured. After chaotic first six weeks.

This hasn’t aged well....up there with your admiration of Andy Whing ?

I equally cannot remember the source but in 2018 only 2 premiership teams needed any attendance revenue to make a profit which should be contrasted with the Championship where 80% of all income went on players wages. 2 very different models.

I would like to see the premiership players take a bit more of a public stance on this. They have the public profiles that could give the clubs a big pr push to dip their hands in their pockets.

I said at the time of the play-off that it was more than just a ‘normal’ playoff game - because of the money and the security it would provide. TBH I was thinking along the lines of whether league 1 and league 2 would get going this year - which clearly they have however at what cost to the clubs and for how long. Tiger is clearly funding us during this period with very little income from the club being generated I assume - but is this just further debt added to our books at whatever point he moves on. I fear we will look back at that game for a long long time - since you can see an ever growing divide between the top two divisions and who knows what clauses the premier league will attach to funds being handed over. They should provide funding because they care for the game and they would all be no-where without the pyramid, but I think we all know that won’t be the case and they will be looking to further protect themselves with any funding they offer.

As a Wycombe fan, totally agreed. We do have the potential to go down with a record points total (though I am not by any means resigned to that!), and not get to enjoy the single Championship season with any crowds. But awful as that sounds on the surface, survival is the bigger issue in the current climate, and winning the playoffs has put us in a very good position to weather this, especially as we have been prudent with our approach to this season. When we won the game, my first thought was "We have saved the club". Outsiders go on about our new owner, but he is not as loaded as the casual observer thinks, and would not be any more capable of funding a year of no income than the next L1 club.

I am not the sort to wish ill on any club when it comes to existence - I want everyone to survive and have a club going forward. There may be plenty of clubs any fan can joke about hating (or hate on the pitch for real), but for me it is never to the point of wishing it out of existence. With that it mind, I wish Oxford well through this nightmare!

Wealdstone v Chesterfield. Fans not now allowed in, can watch game on big screen in the club house which BACKS on to the pitch. The windows facing the pitch have to be covered with stewards in attendance to make sure this happens. What a farcical joke. This has now gone too far.

Kettering doing similar I think. It really is a farce.

what will the Wealdstone raider have to say about that?

They will. If even indirectly, they have too.

They don't think they have to though. And should they do I have no doubt the deal will be firmly in their favour, just like the whole 'solidarity payment' agreement (the majority of which goes on the parachute payments) - they basically killed the money the clubs get for developing young players.

The government: You will not be allowed to make any income from your customers.

The clubs: Well then you will have to compensate us or we will all fold.

The government: Sorry, we don't give a s**t about football.

2 professional divisions will survive and everything below will be amateur. (or Premier League under 21 teams)

I just don't buy the end of the world stuff on here. Football, like many industries, are going through a tough time. But unlike many other industries, the customer base is exceptionally loyal and resilient and will survive. Finances will need to be assessed and the footballing world that we know may have to adapt, but this will not kill lower league football.

Totally agree , it’s as though some people actually want football to go tits up
