League One survival?

You may be right that he might have realised that the enthusiasm for the club to push on was waning but I don't think it fair to say he jumped ship. He got the chance to vastly increase his salary at a Premiership club where he is clearly making an impact. Looks like an excellent career move to me.

But would he have gone if he had be given the money he was promised to get us promoted again? The money was there but it went into DE’s back pocket.
Yes. If you believe DE, Clotet was given a "top 3 budget". I can't believe that wouldn't have been available to MA. Regardless, it was a no brainer for MA to take the Leicester job. He'll be managing at the top level again soon. I'm very disappointed in DE. His chairmanship promised so much as indeed did he, not least that he would always do what was best for the club. Recent events make those word ring somewhat hollow now. His demeanour at that now notorious press conference was that of a 12 year old schoolboy caught having a fag behind the bike sheds. He knows he's let us and himself down and probably out of necessity has acted in his own interests. When push comes to shove, very few club owners are philanthropists. He gave us hope of a bright future but that's all looking rather tarnished now as does his legacy which is what he will probably come to regret most. As to the future, who knows. "I have passion for football. Oxford are my club" the new man says. It's early days but he's made an inauspicious start. We are on yet another journey. I'm hoping for the best but.......

The good news (and this is clutching at straws) is that we're still in a position where a 'new manager bump' will see us finish safely lower mid-table. Something like 3 wins, 2 draws and 6 defeats will be enough and we still have four teams from the bottom half to come at home.

The problem is are we anywhere close to appointing a new manager? And if we are, do we have any confidence that it will be someone who can get the team organised and motivated (I'd argue that there's definitely comfortably League One talent in the squad if they can)?

The longer it takes, the harder that equation is going to get. And if Tiger gets it wrong, we're doomed.

Maybe his personal problems forced his hand.

While I've always acknowledged relegation as a possibility, I didn't think it would happen. Now I'm not so sure; it's at the point where I wouldn't be surprised either way, and that's a worrying feeling. I don't believe we're 'too good to go down'. I just can't help imagine the number of clubs who have thought the exact same thing before it happened. It also contradicts our alarming form at the moment.

It's all just a bit depressing.

We are definitely, definitely, 100% not too good to go down...

A top six budget?
Bringing in players for fees (jan last year)?
Raising ticket prices to fund players?
Trading one player each summer to balance the books?
Creating a ‘sustainable’ club?
Looking to find a financial partner - not selling
DE ‘could fund all day in league 1’
I dont agree. I feel he is an excellent & experienced coach alongside CA. He isnt a manager. He never wanted to be a manager. He hasnt been a manager. AKA. I think OUFC need a manager (who can man manage players & games) ASAP.

Sorry, but faz/allen have shown themselves to be poor at motivating, and tactically. A new manager with a new backroom staff is needed. On Saturday, close up faz looked fed up from the first minute, which can only feed through to the players. allen seemed content to sit on the bench and joke with the subs, as if still one of the lads.

What we need is a new manager, bringing in his own coaches with fresh ideas. The longer the chuckle brothers are in charge, the quicker promotion becomes a certainty. Both bring nothing to the table, that a new manager would want.

We are not too good to go down. However I think you could apply that to every team in this league up to Southend in 13th on 45 points. That's 12 teams that could potentially fill four relegation places.

The odds would probably be against us going down (fancy a flutter Charlie?) But that's on paper.

I dont feel that we need new backroom staff. Coaches are the players "mate". Its part of their role to play good cop. Each really successful team has a great Manager/Coach combination. Smith & Crosby. Smith & Graydon. Appleton & Faz, Clough & Taylor etc...

You would be right if faz was a great coach, but a record of 8 defeats in 9 (could be 7 in 8), shows otherwise. My point with allen was that his communication with faz, as his assistant was minimal, whereas on the Wimbledon bench manager/assistant was continuous.

Kassam,Kinnear and Kemp ?

At the moment it's a bit like after Wilder left and Mickey took over. We knew some sort of takeover was going on but we were in the dark and Waddock comes in as a stop gap. One win in 12 Iseem to remember.
Difference then was we had enough points to stay up
