I'm watching Coleraine v. Motherwell to see if I can spot our next left back.

Makes sense as we need pace and more creative options.

It is also easier to get a good CB in than it is to get a good left back. We can then put Atkinson in the left back position while Ruffles is injured.

Totally agree I felt we were short of CB once Dickie went anyway & watching Mousinho so far he looks well off the pace already + adding another knee injury for a 34 year old doesn’t fill me with confidence leaving Nico Jones as our only CB who not ready (maybe in 2 years time once he’s had a couple of seasons of 1st team football behind him on loan he could be in a position like Atkinson) as you say Atkinson can play LB & the way he carries the ball forward is quite impressive

Eastwood
Clare Moore Atkinson Ruffels
Sykes Gorrin Brannagan
Henry Taylor _____

Stevens
Long _____ Mousinho _____
Forde Kelly McGuene
Aygei Winnall Cooper

(Osei, Hall)

That’s the 3 squad spaces that we need to fill according to KR.

I think we can not play 4 at the back.
With the players we have left.
I'd go 5 or 3.
Could we play a back three of
Long Moore Atkinson
Henry Brannagan Kelly Sykes Cooper
Taylor agyei / Osei
Henry and cooper as wing backs

Henry as a wing back? He is most unsuited to play wing back. Claire yes, Long would do a job, Forde would do a job but Henry no way.
To be honest I completely forgot about Clare and Forde that’s why I put Henry there lol but I absolutely agree with you Clare or Forde would be better options

But also on the topic would you play cooper at LWB or long ?? Long done fairly well against Watford at LB but cooper is left footed

Henry needs to hit form quickly. Been right off it since the re-start. It's a big worry, because for me it's the main reason we are stuttering at the moment.
If Henry is playing well the whole team generally does. He is the catalyst for most of our creative play and Taylor especially needs him to up his game asap.

Agree that Henry is vital. Not sure if it's a lack of form or consequence of our current setup or both. I get the sense we're slightly overplaying the 'Jamo, whip in crosses from the right' tactic at the expense of his other strengths. Judging from KRs recent comments it's a deliberate thing but can become a bit one dimensional and predictable. Against Lincoln there were a lot of deliveries from JH and many of them decent. Unfortunately their back line ate them up and, bar a positional error in the first minute, didn't make another defensive mistake for 89 mins. Not many L1 teams will be so disciplined and consistent I'd hope. But I do think Henry thrives when he's given some freedom, that's hard to do though when our options in other areas so limited. His form looked off last year in those rare games without a Holland, Fosu or Browne. I agree with the manager and majority on here that we need more pace and variety on the wings, especially the left. Not just to increase our threat directly but to free up class players like Henry.
