Ex Player Alex Rodriguez Gorrin

Am I right in thinking that he has been given another season in the YT (along with Chambers-Parillion) before graduating?

Would have hoped he’d have gone to a league higher minimum. Very good prospect. .

I liked the look of him in the (few) games I saw him play. I would have liked to see him go to a higher level, hopefully he is a future starter.

Personally I have high hopes for this lot having seen them play a lot.

We know about Nico and for me he is ready to step up in to the first team squad weekly.

The for me as mentioned Elechi should get a go with JR injured.

Sole is very impressive - he’s small, but very combative and has a very good eye for a pass. Like I said I would have thought he’d have gone to a higher placed team in the non league set up.

You have Lofthouse whose been banging on the door for the 12-18 months. I just hope he doesn’t get used as a utility player like he has been. He’s a cracking player who deserves a chance higher up the pitch.

Lopes like Lofthouse has been superb and has bulked up a lot and could handle the pro game comfortably. Technically very sound and can play across the midfield and also behind the striker. Another one who needs the chance to break through sooner rather than later.

Slavi Spasov could and should get a chance with Taylor and Winnall struggling. He’s a natural striker who’s a very good finisher and surprisingly very good in the air for his size.

Two who may be a little beyond the above but very exciting are Chambers-Parillon and Tyler Goodrham. Both been stands out at the back end of the 18’s season. Chambers-Parillon is box to box and another of a good size with a good solid range of passing.

Goodrham I love watching play, old fashioned winger who loves taking on his man but also puts in a wicked early ball. Started scoring more goals too which is never a bad thing.

Will they get a chance in our first team.

Sadly, I doubt it, as the pressure to get promoted is to high for KR to gamble - but I’d say they stand a very good chance of making it in the pro game at league level.

I’m not being negative, just impatient. But you’re right that the standard we play at is very high and one that Ruffels and Long have to be at the top of their game to match. It’s a tall order for a young player to step in but we’ve been hearing about this lot for ages and we need a flow of young players to the first team.

When you look at the stick Sam Long gets and a lot of the time it’s right. It shows how far our standards have come. Sam Long is a midtable League 1 full back on paper so it shows how good we expect our players to now be instantly.

You see them a lot more than me.
I saw them.a couple of times last season including the Cup game (?) v AFC Wimbledon. That was a big game and most of the players disappointed. To play in our first team I would expect them to stand out at that level?
We clearly have some good young players coming through, but need a couple to force there wah into the first team. Hopefully that happens in the next couple of years.

It was only two years ago that Robinson was saying he was one of the best young players he had worked with, and was going to play in the PL. He’s coming up to 19 and still being loaned out to the Southern League. He also said Nico Jones would be an international and now apparently no non-league teams even want him.

What happened?

They didnt make 8 years of progress in 2 years!

Also missing out on 6 months of football and the changing picture in lower/non-league football meaning that development opportunities may be more limited.

Not sure we can truly criticise Robinson or the club here (not that you were!)

I don’t think it’s unfair to suggest that most future PL / International footballers by the age of nearly 19 can at least get a non-league club to take them on loan, or go a bit higher than the Southern League when they do.

I’m not criticising the players. I’m suggesting that perhaps expectations were set a little bit too high.
