International News Covid-19 .....

Its a carehome...

She jumped a bandwagon to raise her profile from the inside, if there was a shortage of PPE then you do use it wisely or "ration it", remember the WHO guidance was changed several times.
Most of the "home made" PPE is now languishing in landfill or down your local corner shop being sold back to the people who made it.
Barely any was used in NHS or professional care establishments. Why? They didn`t run out.
The only thing that folk use are the "button bands" to stop your ears getting sore.

Sorry. Reality.
The reality is that attitudes like yours stops whistle-blowers coming forward which contributes to the chaos we currently experiencing.

There is whistle blowing and there is stating the feckin obvious. They are two completely different things.

"Right team we have PPE on order, but only 7 days stock so please use it appropriately and safely" is not threatening anyone its fact and sharing clear information.

"Brenda go and clean Doris, who is Covid positive, and we haven`t got enough/any PPE for you but its coming" is wrong. Brenda blows the whistle rightly.

As I said it is that kind of attitude that stops whistle-blowers coming forward which contributes to the chaos we currently experiencing. Stop digging a hole for yourself.

Ah yes "tinpot Serco".......
Serco Group plc is a British company with headquarters based in Hook, Hampshire, England. Serco manage over 500 contracts worldwide. The company employs over 50,000 people. Serco operates in the following sectors of public service provision: Health, Transport, Justice, Immigration, Defence, and Citizens Services.

And who opened the door for them to cherry pick the NHS backroom services?

As you were.

Why do you keep missing the point so badly?

Some outsourcing contracts work well, some don't (and I've had the misfortune of coming across some stinkers) but this is about the government trying to pin the testing failures on the NHS when its being masterminded by Dido Harding and 'delivered' by Serco.

It really is pernicious and corrupt.

And you are still blaming Blair and Labour for the continued shitness and persistent mismanagement of it...is that the point you're trying to make?

Are you happy for some(more) of the services you provide for the NHS to be outsourced and then for you to take the blame for them when they fail?

Sounds a bit like cutting off your nose to spite your face to me!

We terminated our outsourcing arrangement.
Sadly it is not a simple process.
So our cleaners were outsourced, over 2 years they were reduced in numbers and quality slipped away.
They were then out of TUPE protection and forced to sign new contracts, worse Ts&Cs of course.
So 4 years into the contract we terminated it on grounds of not achieving measures etc.
We still needed cleaners, they then get TUPED the other way as is required.
As we didn`t have enough cleaners the Trust started to re-employ cleaners directly, on better Ts & C`s.
Some 5-6 years later we still had folk doing the same job getting paid differently.

Simple me says Contract terminated just switch them all over to NHS Ts&Cs.............. you aren`t allowed to do that as workers rights are protected and it can`t be dodged!

The folk who start such things never understand, see or care about the reality on the ground.

Outsourcing of any people that work in the NHS should not be allowed, it destroys the whole team bond & team ethos.

However how do you get the private sector "good bits" into the NHS?

Having an alternative view is not missing the point.

Serco are a large organisation with broad experience and should be able to cope.

They have probably discovered that lab kit is made to order, it doesn`t sit on shelves waiting, and BMS`s (Bio Medical Scientists) are a very scarce resource.

So does that mean Serco have over-promised and under-delivered?

And if so, did they KNOW they were doing that beforehand, or did they simply not do their research into what was actually feasible?

I wonder what @Scotchegg 's take is on how well Serco have performed in his particular sector?

That's not an alternative view on the deception involved in trying to stick this on the NHS is a completely different issue!

They just prepare bids for contracts really well and as everyone has to be treated "equally and transparently" .
Even if you know they are cack you have to use the scoring system based on the bid.
It`s the same for job applications and interviews... .humanity has been removed because people think everyone else is biased.;)

This is true. They put their brains into the bidding team (saying all the right things but using nuance incredibly well) and often those responsible for delivery say 'we have to deliver that for that price!?'. It's then a constant battle for those who have procured trying to get performance close to what is contractually due. Good contracts will have clauses that help pin down the supplier but God is it time consuming and therfore can become very inefficient.

Absolutely true, and pervasive everywhere. We’ve reached a point where recruitment etc either has to be done by people who are so far removed that they haven’t got a f*****g clue why or who they’re hiring, or hidden nod and wink favours to mates. We’ve lost the middle ground where informed people with minor but visible conflicts of interest are trusted to act with discretion.

Except for Track and Trace and all these other Covid period contracts they haven't had to bid.

Back away..... we had 4 posts in a row agreeing with each other!! ? ?

Even with direct award at times of crisis there will be an audit trail and a process...................... that`s why they will need a Public Inquiry in 2037...

I'm not sure how Dido Harding can keep a straight face when she says nobody could have predicted the current demand. In May a friend of mine, who works in a role where they were hearing directly from the government on a daily basis told me that they were being warned BY THE GOVERNMENT that a second wave in the Autumn could well be worse than what was happening then. Maybe others on here are/have been in a similar position and can verify this.

Either they are incredibly stupid...or they think we are and treating us with the exact amount of disdain I would expect from Bojo and Dom.
