you offered me a bet - I replied

"Johnson -or his successor might get re-elected. Given their control of the media, their readiness to break every law and game the system and the huge amount of dodgy money behind them.

I don’t think things will be on the up though."

He won't last five years either.

Approx 2200. Not that it will make a massive difference, he has a healthy majority and even with his own back benchers voting against or abstaining it’ll go through.

You think? I thought it would get rejected.

So if it's approved, what next?

Yesterdays vote & debate was the second reading of the Bill.
Scrutiny or Committee Stage (Cross Party) today, fine tooth comb job.
Amendments can be submitted to/by the committee.
Then it is the report stage and Third Reading.

Then it goes to the House of Lords for a first reading......

There is a few more weeks in it yet!!

Bills can start in either house btw.

For someone who hates social media, you seem to post quite a few of these things off it! :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

Some things humour me.......... my engagement with it is distant at best.
I only have "friends" I have actually met, know and like including several from these parts.

As an aside I discovered TikTok the other day............... the media equivalent of watching a goldfish swimming around a bowl for 15 seconds or so it seems.
Banal, pointless shite with the required attention span of said goldfish! :D :D

That he is still in post at the next election? I say "Yes".
£50 to the charity of our respective choice?

“they may well be”

But with an incompetent corrupt liar as Prime Minister I can’t see it. Shall we have a little bet?

To which I replied with clarity that he will still be in post at the next election? I say "Yes".
You, thinking he is a corrupt, liar, unfit for office yaadaa yaadaa yaada would say "No".

One of us will be right and "WIN" the other will be wrong and "LOSE".

I understand the concept of winning and losing is alien to the liberal left but that is the bet, hopefully explained simply enough for you to understand.

To be honest, I think anyone resorting to making a bet with a stranger on the internet to prove a point has already lost...

The bet I offered was whether the country would be better off. You seek to think being better off and having Boris Johnson as Prime Minister mean the same thing.

Can't you just give him a yes or no, we can then all stop reading about this bloody bet!!!

He's such a stain on the country later. Constant bungling and outright lies as well as very little integrity. But will he ever step down? Or is he too proud?

Why would he step down with the majority he has and I the lack of public will for him to do it?? I don't understand why you'd imagine he would just resign from the job he's worked for his whole life to obtain...

I'm not really a Boris fan or a Conservative but come on, accept that he's going to be in power for some time yet.

You keep on perpetuating lies don't you.

Starmer said .. to “get Brexit done” and said Labour would support the internal market bill if the government addresses “substantial cross-party concerns”.

I suspect he was desperate to get the job, and will love to swan about as 'ex-PM Boris' afterwards but is not enjoying the experience of actually *being* PM. (Admittedly he's been PM during a s**t storm, but equally I don't think there are that many who think he's done much of a job of it.)

My prediction is that he will leave step down in the first three months of next year for health reasons - unless we suddenly get a vaccine and 'beat' the virus, in which case he will stay and take the credit! Those quasi-Churchillian speeches won't make themselves, you know...

Team game isn`t it?? ;)

Kier Starmer has an approval rating of 42% compared to Boris’s 39%. Some people will say look he has a better approval rating that shows Boris is doing a bad job. If we actually analyse these figures we have Boris leading the country through its most difficult times in 70 odd years(COVID-19) and dealing with Brexit which a significant minority still fail to accept compared to Kier Starmer who took over a party with its least popular leader in years only 5/6 months ago who has done nothing really bar slate the government. This twinned with opinion polls still show labour are going to struggle.
One thing that people have missed is while the big stories are being played out under extreme media attention other vote winning policies are coming into play. An example of this is where new houses are being built. Oxfordshire is getting loads of houses( several safe Tory seats) whereas the Brexit voting new Tory voting seats of the north aren’t. Things like this are why Kier Starmer won’t win an election at present because they have forgotten about the north.
