50 points.....

God there are some self righteous prats on here. Read what Charles said again and then think about if you actually understand what he wrote. Clearly a lot of you do not understand the term "lay off a bet".

As to the betting stuff, ask the bookie at home games what folk bet on. The Bury game saw him cleaned out by one bet at 28-1 for OUFC to be in front at half time and then go on to lose. He gets the same bets every home game.

I would bet that Charles would be happier if we don't get relegated and lose his bet.

"looking forward hopefully to the moment when the steps laid out above happen"

Anyone looking forward "hopefully" to us getting relegated so they can make a few quid is a prat. 'Self righteous' or not.

‘The steps laid out’ refers to his action plan for survival.

You still don't get it, do you?

No actually I do now! I apologise to Charlie for misunderstanding his post.

I still think he is a prat for betting on us to get relegated though!

Hang on.. maybe Tigers bet on us to go down as well..? It all makes sense now.. no manager.. and if it comes in it goes a long way to paying DE off.. Bingo!

I'm glad charlie never brought our club. He probably would have led us to the Hellenic league (whilst putting a bet on it in the process)

Morons like you would deserve for that to happen (I shall leave someone else to inter

I said that I had made a bet, but looked forward to "laying off" that bet once our club puts in place the necessary steps to avoid the fate that I, unlike those (like you( with crappy judgement, could see coming months ago.

Laying off means, effectively, exiting the bet, which you can do on Betfair, effectively by backing us to stay up. So, in short, I am looking forward to backing us to stay up.

The idea that having a bet on outcome you do not desire is somehow "un-supportive" is quite bizarre. My betting account is a financial game between me and my bookmaker. No-one else has a dog in that fight. Sometimes, I win - more often, he wins. I might LIKE the idea of a sunny summer, but if a long-term weather forecaster I believe in tells me that it's going to hammer it down then I can bet (against my bookmaker and thence the market as a whole) on that outcome.
That bet doesn't mean I want it to rain, and nor does it make it more likely that it will rain. It is un-connected and is simply the expression of a view as a financial outcome. In slang, "putting your money where your mouth is."

Whereas there is, say, a direct link between taking 8.5 million quid out of the football club in net transfer income and the football club performing more poorly on the pitch. But then why address the actual issues when you can prance around pontificating on a subject you know nothing about, and is entirely irrelevant?

You want us to go down for your own financial gain. Some supporter you are.

Remember that Charlie’s reason for coming back on the forum was because someone phoned him to say that mistruths were being said on here and he wanted to put the record straight.

Now you can’t shut him up - or get him saying anything in three sentences nor anything that he hasn’t said before. He seems to be revelling in our plight even more than Kip now.

Exactly. The bloke is a class A prat who wants OUFC to fail all because he failed to buy the club.

Interesting to see how many points would have kept us up.

With our goal difference we would have stayed up with 50 points. So we had enough points after the win v Southend.

Interesting also that no team that has finished fourth from bottom has had more than 50 points in at least the last 10 years (and some have come 4th from bottom with as few as 47 points).

The Division this season at the bottom was probably marginally better than some seasons but pretty much in line with the past 10 years or so (so there have always been enough teams 'bad enough' to achieve 50 points or lower).
