Oxford v Leeds 1984/85

What a quagmire the Manor was that day,
The 5th goal that day,was Oxfords 50th of the season,on the 24th of NOVEMBER !!
The cameraman on the TV Tower in the Cuckoo lane doesn't look to be enjoying himself, what with the Leeds fans dismantling it.

I was on the small terrace in front of the Beech Road, next to the dugouts for this, watching the Leeds fans go nuts was an incredible sight, had never seen anything quite like it at the time. When we pulled the first goal back just knew we would go on and win it.

Just finished watching it. Cracking game and atmosphere. Hope we get to that standard again some day.

I was there! Those were the days when we could go 5-0 down and still believe we could win the match! The belief and confidence cannot be described unless you were there at that time.

That team go 5 nil down - never ???

They talk about Constable being a legend. Dont make me laugh. Johny A the best Oxford striker I have seen in 60 years, AND he could stay fit.
U don’t have to be the best player to have ever played for us to be a legend. Johnny a did the job we needed at that level, beano did at his level and was one of the key players in returning us to the league

I was at the game with about nine of my mates in the Osler Road, not too far from the Leeds fans, baiting them throughout. Watching this, brings tears to my eyes............of laughter, at Jim Smith's little bald head!

5-2 that day.
Next home game Charlton 5-0,
Next home game Cardiff 4-0
Next home game (3 days later) Crystal Palace 5-0
Those were the days !

P.S. People use lack of disposal income as an excuse for fans not attending.
This was the 1980's of 2 million people unemployed.
The 2 games against Cardiff and Palace,on Boxing day and the 29th of December, attracted just under 24,000.
