And we think our landlord is bad...

I'm no expert so as Dulwich Hamlet Football Club have been using the name for over a century would that somewhat screw up the trademarks if they got taken to court?

I'm sure I've seen similar cases in the past where courts have rejected such claims by chancers trademarking a name.

Yes, but no doubt that would cost more money than they can afford. It is just pettiness of the highest order (the development co's fight is with the council who rejected their plans, they are just toying with the club to try and get their way).

Posh Spice tried to trademark the name Posh once I believe, Peterborough contested it. I am not sure that got as far as court.

Hopefully, if it comes to court on this they have some solicitors as supporters who will provide legal support free.

Without boring the forum with intricate details, some years ago Lambretta clothing company attempted to copyright the name Lambretta across europe. It was opposed by many groups headed by lambretta club great britain. The name lambretta has been in use predominantly but not exclusively by milan ,innocenti made scooters.(new automatic lambrettas were launched last year)....the clothing chap 'won ' the costly legal battle to use the name Lambretta on clothing (plus shoes and aftershave too) exclusively. Meaning Lambretta enthusiasts can no longer use the stand alone word Lambretta on t-shirts etc, even those depicting Lambretta scooter/scooters!

Good luck Dulwich hamlets fc, I hear FSF are representing them. Football Supporters Federation represent football supporters interests in many different spheres. Didn't Wembley fc have a battle with Wembley stadium plc over the use of the name Wembley recently???? Big business usually equates to Big BULLIES in the UK these days, sadly
