Ref Watch +++ 13/07/20 L1 Play Off FINAL - OUFC v Wycombe+++

Emotions are running high, and everyone will be rightly gutted. But we've had to play in circumstances which are always much harder for a footballing side than one that plays more directly. It was hard to get up to full fitness, and even harder to get the sharpness that we need. Actoss the 3 games Henry and Taylor offered little, Brannagan struggled to get control of the game and Eastwood has made far too many errors. But you can count on 1 hand the errors they'd made during the normal season.

We need to rest, regroup and go again whenever the season starts up. It is sickening to come so close, but let's not start turning on the players and manager who have given us a fantastic season.
Eastwood makes errors pretty much every other game. He is weak at crosses, cant distribute the ball and gets beaten by long shots too easily.

Not a good day at the office, saw that the players were not as good as they ought to have been ,the Achilles heel as ever is the inability to dominate defenders ,all the possession and passing counts for nothing if there is no end product, disappointing performances from too many players meant it was always going to hard against Wycombe, the question will be why didn’t Henry shoot and why did Moore duck?, in someways I am glad that I couldn’t have gone I felt rotten walking out of Wembley after the Coventry game, this would have been worse

What a time to lose
Now we will lose some of our best players.
Next season will be very hard with the likes of Ipswich, Sunderland, Portsmouth, Barnsley and Charlton challenging.
i think next season will be harder unless we can keep Dickie and so many others.
I think Wycombe will go straight back down but good luck to them.
No doubt Ainsworth will be off to another club with a great CV in tow
Sins worth will take his brand of football elsewhere and ruin another team.

Give it a f*****g rest for just 10 minutes. We just lost the play off final to an atrocious team.

I appreciate the positivity for sure- but just live in the actual moment for a second. We'll lose all our key players. It's nothing but a HUGE disappointment.

We should have won that game.

Side note - Not one to usually get annoyed by this, but how biased was Lee Hendries commentary? Wycombes semi final was clearly the only time he’s seen either side play, and from there he thought they had Baresi att he back and had some sort of affinity to them.
To be fair, I’d only seen Stewart play in the two semi finals but I was impressed with him.

Not sure yet but you all know he’s going. Won’t get backed enough at your place
Are you taking the P**s robbo loves it here his family are local his wife has a good job local he ain’t going to Bristol like he wasn’t going to your grim little town

Somebody ask the question are we ready for the championship there is your answer

Sorry, that's not the point. Going up, gets you the money to build again even if you come straight back down. Watch Luton, and Wycombe when they come down next season. The money will keep them challenging for a long time to come. That's why in matters not a jot if we are ready to go up or not.

You've changed your tune from #anyonebutWycombe ?

Mostly agree though. I'd argue we created more but were utterly inept with it. They weren't.

It wasn't cynical anti-football from Hell, it was a solid (enough!) team performance from them.

True - I had seen Wycombe at their worst over recent years but tonight I feel they were at their best and it wasn't unpleasant watching at all (from their perspective). From our perspective I think you are right in saying we created more but were inept. When they were in our box I was concerned. When we were in theirs I felt nothing.

The #anyonebutWycombe thing is still legit though - the sporting integrity of the Championship is now in tatters with the admission of such a tiny club.

Will they break 30 points next season? I look forward to finding out.
