International News Black Lives Matter

So can only dogs voice the characters on Paws Patrol now? It might be a bit ruff understanding them.
No you are being deliberately awkward, it's quite obvious no? White voice artists for white dogs, black voice actors for black dogs. Mick Hucknall for red setters.

I meant - why the comment - "Brixton - well I'll be."?

The behaviour is atrocious, granted, but have you ever stopped to think ....I'm mean seriously stopped to think why Brixton? Why Notting Hill? why does it happen in those communities and not, say Knightsbridge...or...Kensington & Chelsea...or Islington....or West Brompton....or......you get the idea?

It's kind of like you are saying, well it is Brixton....what do you expect, whilst shrugging your shoulders and shaking your head disapprovingly....is that about right?

Maybe if we did more to tackle the reasons why small minorities of the communities in these Areas act and react the way they do, it wouldn't happen quite so much. It's easy to say tackle the gun drug and gang problems, but maybe take a step back and consider why they are a problem in certain Areas first.

Going in hard with the Army as you offer would, I suggest, do more to stoke the fires than it will to extinguish it and if you really want to make people feel like they are under siege, disenfranchised and the "them" in society, rather than the "us", then carry on with using more and more force. But I would suggest it is a very slippery slope indeed.
Strange to me that this hasn't got more of a reaction, as to me it perfectly summarises the whole issue. People who are against BLM love to point out how BAME people are more likely to commit crimes or be carrying a knife etc, so increased rates of stop and search (for example) are justified. But few ask why those people are more likely to be carrying knives etc. in the first place.

Choose to do something wrong and it can impact the rest of your days be that gangs, dealing, rioting or attacking the police.
This being a prime example - there is nothing inherent in 'being black' that means a black person is more likely to be in a gang or rioting. It must be a result of circumstance and experience, in the form of poorer prospects, fewer opportunities and a higher incidence of living in poverty. It is those issues that BLM as a movement is attempting to address.

I left this thread a while ago and won’t be returning but just thought I would leave this here.
I have had my thoughts and many have disagreed but one thing has struck me recently is that until colour is removed from this whole debate ( worldwide) it will not stop or go away. It is about respect of people and property/ possessions no matter what their colour. You have to look at this country in the past few days and see beaches turned into rubbish dumps and events in Liverpool last night. Add to that these street parties in London where police have been targeted, all this while we are still under relative lockdown rules.

Arseholes come in all colours I guess!

I have come to the conclusion a t**t is a t**t and I take people as I find when face to face in particular. The first person with the sarcastic comment doesn’t win a prize and the feeling is mutual. ???

But there are always going to be an underclass in any society. But nobody asks how asians and black africans (as opposed to afro Caribbean) perform better at school than white british and Black Caribbean students. Or why indians earn so much more than white british and black ethnic groups. BLM has a big issue for me in the fact it seems focussed on one ethnic group and when people campaign for white lives matter they are accused of being racist. If they stated lets end poverty, tax the bankers, shot down drugs gangs lets do something about absent fathers a big issue in this community and something Jack straw spoke about when he was home secretary https://www.alliance4usefulevidence.org/absent_fathers/ then i would have a cause everyone could get involved in. As it stands there seems to be a desire for preference (money or jobs going to them as a priority so my poor rural but white community funds inner city communities (who get a higher amount of spending per head) to get their third youth centre), or quotas, remember 85% of the uk is white British so only 3 in 100 of any top job could be black even if they had quotas. It actually looks like they are after over representation https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/20...-bbc-introduces-diversity-quota-pledges-100m/ here that want a minimum of 20%.

What we have is simply a poverty issue, a parenting issue and a lack of aspiration to achieve more. This goes for both sections of black and white society. I'm certainly not going to drag Asians and other ethnicities down to our level it is for us to look up and achieve.

As i've said a million times taking aim at white britishness isn't going to solve the issue. White British are more likely to die in police custody when arrested even than black people, earn less than average and have poorer educational (outcomes than average and black africans). Perhaps both communities can look at the strong family units found in asian families, the strong focus on education that Chinese and Indians obviously value. And seriously be as well behaved as asians who are very successful at obeying the law and not getting arrested. White people must have the worst form of white privilege possible if this is the situation.

No, don`t buy that. There is opportunity for all.
If you choose to look for it, work for it and achieve not try taking a fast route to fast cash with drugs etc.
True poverty is very, very rare in this country and is normally accompanied by either a criminal record or health issues not skin colour.

This is a very complex issue that as far as I can see will only be solved by education at an early age. Instead of pulling down statues and trying to forget history and whether we like it or not current society has been built on suffering, be it slavery or mass extermination, or letting certain countries get away with killing their own. One memory I have which will never leave me is a visit to Belsen in 1971. Accept Colsen and Rhodes existed but educate children as to what they did and ensure that they learn from those dreadful parts of our history. But this is a 2 way street. You cannot keep complaining of harrassement and prejudice and then join gangs intent on destruction of your enemies, black or white.
Where I live racism is rarely seen and we are fairly multi-cultural here. But just because I hate gospel music does not make me a racist, in the same way I cannot stop laughing at Blazing Saddles or Porridge even though I am aware of how that can be presented. We are now looking at every aspect of society from cereal packets to face creams to the music and entertainment industry and this is a good thing in that it raises awareness, but there is a danger that it can go the other way, and does it achieve what we all, or most of us, (black or white) want which is a fair and equal society regardless of cultural background.

good post that ^^ @sarumox

Another weekend in Chicago goes by, with more homicides and injuries:

It will only get worse with 4th July weekend coming and epidemics of Blue Flu taking hold nationally, but not a peep from our media or trendy hashtags, just about Mercedes F1 having black cars. Ho hum

In respect of this specific matter what are your suggesting the UK media do? Should it be running campaigns to change USA gun laws?

Doesn't matter UK gun laws are much better but there is still a need for operation trident which was actually set up by afro-caribean people to deal with gun violence inside their own community.

I've spent a bit of time reading about operation trident following your post, not something I'd read much about, and came across this article...

...as you seem to be pretty well informed on policing issues, is this article fair representation?
