Current Player Marcus Browne

Rugby is becoming a completely brutal game in the professional era but I do not think the players go out with the intention of deliberately injuring an opposing player (and fellow pro), but I have no doubt whatsoever that some football managers / coaches instruct their players to foul opposing players. A pound to a pinch of s**t that ferguson told his players to go in hard on Marcus browne whenever they could.

imo, suspensions have to be consistent and disciplinary panels would be the wrong way to go, but would agree that certain offences should merit longer bans, e.g. serious foul play v deliberate hand ball for example.
The hits are bigger, yes, but they have done quite a bit to eradicate serious foul play in rugby (and foul play is what we are talking about here). Rule changes (ie at the ruck/breakdown and in the tackle), the disciplinary procedures, coupled with the ability to cite players after the game seem to worked to a certain extent. They are far from perfect but there are big penalties for foul play and showing a lack of respect for officials and they do act as a deterrent.

I think there should be guidelines on the length of ban for certain offences (as there are in rugby), but whether it can be judged to be done with intent, whether the offender showed any remorse or apologised and how badly they injured the victim should (IMHO) be taken into account when deciding where within a specified range a ban should fall....why not??

Foul and abusive language to the ref is likely to get you a longer ban than punching an opponent....imagine that in football...that would teach a few scrotes (players and managers) a bit of respect!

Oh how I wish we had Rambo “ Briggsy’s gonna get you “ no messing wallop have some of that old son ?

How about mandatory 'sin binning' for certain first yellow card offences with no tactical subs allowed. Say 20 minutes in the bin for a dangerous tackle etc. That would put managers off telling their players to 'take a player out of the game'

good idea in principle...in the reality of L1 , it'd be refreshing if most match officials actually gave at least a degree of protection to players attempting to play football who get hacked down by clogger type opponents time after time

I would like to have thought this could be looked at again by the fa as someone else that’s assault the t**t had no intention of going for the ball just wished Mackie had fucked him up when she was sent off especially after kicking the water bottle at the I’s bench

Didn't like his attitude. Any news on Brown's injury anyone please?

I feel sorry for Browne - for whatever reason, Refs jut let him get kicked about and it takes many fouls for something to be done. Thompson was dirty and malicious (no surprise) and that has cost us a good player in a key game.
Some refs go brandishing yellow cards for petty offences.
Some let a young player get kicked in the air time after time.
Not right

Hope we stick with same team Saturday and not try accommodate Gorrin, who I believe is back Saturday? could be wrong.

As fantastic as we were last night, away to Ipswich is a very different proposition. I think we need the bite of someone like Gorrin to allow Brannagan and others the freedom to play. I would probably play him at the expense of Holland with Browne moving to the left.

I agree. Bringing in Gorrin gives better cover for the defence and allows Brannagan more freedom going forward.

I agree.

Wimbledon were exceptionally poor, the worst I've seen this season. That's not to undermine our performance, we were great and very professional with a good tempo to our game. Ipswich will be another level though and Gorrin was a constant in our great run earlier this season and he walks back in in my opinion. It's a game where we will need our big players - Gorrin, Henry, Brannagan - and it's one of Holland or Sykes to make way. Not a slight on either but very much a horses for courses approach. I'd be inclined to leave out Holland, for no other reason than he'd have more impact from the bench if we were chasing the game and is a bit more of a luxury player than Sykes.

Gorrin in for Sykes who got a slight knock I believe

According to the article Woodburn's loan has been extended too, which is great news also. I think despite losing out on Holland, keeping those two (and having Hally and Malachi coming back) will see us sorted for wingers.
