International News Donald Trump 🍊🇺🇸

The wider quote of the racist 60s police chief he is quoting from:
"We haven’t had any serious problems with civil uprising and looting because I’ve let the word filter down that when the looting starts, the shooting starts, we don’t mind being accused of police brutality. They haven’t seen anything yet.”

'When the looting starts the shooting starts'. That's what WE need more of! None of this vague messaging from the government. None of this 'follow your instincts' or 'use your common sense' or 'stay alert' but firm, clear information. The thugs of Minneapolis know where they stand and should now accept the consequences of their future actions.

The message should have been extended to make it clearer;

When the Looting starts, the Shooting starts.
But if you're black, don't shoot back.
Or you'll hit the deck, and we'll break your neck
But if you're white, you'll be alright.

Nice easy instructions for the masses to understand!!!

Mind, there were recent protests against the lock down with some "protesting" kitted out in full military gear brandishing M16's showing their rights.

Can you imagine a few African American kitted out say in the same gear or black clothes carrying M16's??

Unbelievably, I've actually heard of a tweet (not seen it, so this might be rubbish) that puts all the blame on the dead black man. Apparently, the police wouldn't have stopped him if he'd done nothing wrong and he probably had a 'bad attitude' which justified the tough action.

So the Policeman who knelt on Floyd's neck has been charged with 3rd degree murder and 2nd degree manslaughter. The family want 1st degree murder, but isn't premeditation required for that?

Charges expected for the 3 other Police Officers.

As someone who restrains people for a living, positional asphyxiation has been known about for 20 odd years, particularly amongst Afro-Caribbean men. Any weight on the back prevents the chest cavity expanding enough to get oxygen in the body. So you keep people face down for the minimum amount of time, keep weight off them and go absolutely nowhere near the neck/throat. And even this would usually only happen until cuffs were applied, at which point you sit them up or keep them on their side.

You have to be able to demonstrate that the use of force is necessary, reasonable, and proportionate so that the minimum amount is used. None of that applied in this case.

How anyone, other than ignorant racist dicks, can defend this is beyond me.

For whatever reason, the fully armed protests passed off without a major incident - likely as most were Trump supporters and full of hot air. Some African Americans also attended rallies. The anger over George Floyd's murder is very understandable and very real because his death is so completely senseless, but wanton destruction of property again won't make justice roll any quicker or validate an opinion.

The looting etc of stores and premises, and violence in the past few days is realistically only hurting the poor and middle classes of Minnesota and other cities. Who works at a Target in Minnesota? Not a high paid CEO, but working poor and young people. Will Target stay in that lot? How quick can the store be repaired? What happens to the employees in that time? And replicate that across other chains and stores.

Equally, who had a their small business destroyed and looted? People from all ethnic backgrounds. The only thing the looters are doing is making the lives for many people worse in the short term, and unknown in the medium to long term. As such, it's counter intuitive to justice.

I hope the policeman goes away for a very long time. Awful human being,

Reports suggesting that the Leader of the Free World™ was rushed to a secure bunker under the White House over the weekend. Perhaps the "vicious dogs" protecting the perimeter were napping? Cowering in fear from your own citizens won't do wonder for his optics though... #BunkerBoy

I'm agreeing with nearly all your posts recently. What's going on?

American`s eh?

The world was a far better place when more of the globe was pink. :)

Copper charged & sacked, rightly so.........don`t think he has any defence. I would have thought his colleagues party to the arrest should be following the same route.
I can understand the anger locally but the whole rioting, looting etc doesn`t do anyone any good.

As for Donald.... we only ever get to see a small snippet of what he says, and normally the most controversial bits.
I happened to watch all of his China/WHO speech and it was easy to see why he and others in power think they were failed in some way.
However that leaves them equally open to their opponents suggesting they are using the WHO/China as the fall guys for their ineptitude...........

No, it doesn't, but the peaceful way was tried with taking the knee during the national anthem, and it got them nowhere, and the 5 year old in charge threw his toys out in a temper tantrum. So what do you do?

I think the underlying anger & pain causing the riots we are witnessing goes way, way, way back... The appalling act by the cop is sadly yet another trigger point which brings it to the surface.

And El Pres simply 'tweets' gasoline over the flames, from the safety of his bunker, rather than looking to unite his people.

Regrettably, Trump is clearly more interested in uniting his voter base than uniting his people. He'll no doubt have a pretty good idea that many of those protesting / rioting will not put an X in his box in November.

Even George Floyd's family are asking for calm but people aren't listening and the senseless violence and looting is continuing. Seeing what the protestors are doing to shop owners in particular is incredibly sad to see, especially those trying to save their living and standing their ground. They are already struggling with the lockdown and now they are dealing with this. And in some dirt poor areas too.

The protestors have to be more intelligent and nuanced than wanton violence and mob justice, and stop allowing the agitators like Antifa to do their thing.

Between 2013 and 2019 American police have killed just shy of 8,000 people. That is 20+ a week.... 3 a day.

That is the cultural problem in America. Police killing people.

Intelligent, nuanced, black; Martin Luther King. Didn’t end well.

Perhaps they need to look at the whole gun culture thing... Will never happen of course.

it appears not much has changed in USA since the 60s on this particular aspect thats International news

I'd thoroughly recommend Stuart Cosgrove's trilogy of books focusing on late 60s USA, civil rights and soul music changing during the 3 years covered- not a lot has changed in 50+ years
