Injured players

Just looking at a programme from 1984. Same 12 players for the first dozen games of the season. What is going wrong? The tempo was certainly as high back then, AND they got clattered just as hard. Was it playing through the pain barrier. The lot we have at present cannot even get through pre-season. Mystifying.

Hugh Curran told me part of his training regime at Wolves was doing piggy back racing up and down the steep terracing at the Molyneux home end. His knees are totally shot, probably being asked to play when nowhere near fit. Pain killing injections and all that.

Are there any other main squad players, apart from Hall due back soon?
Does anyone have any news on Hall please?

Williamson probably not match-fit yet, only played for 45.

Probably right. Just going off what FAZ said pre Northampton. Probably won't be ready until after Wimbledon.

We really haven't had any luck with injuries this season. Let's just hope we pick up 3/4 more wins and the new manager has got time to get players fit or replace them and build properly in the summer. I'd bet we will have a huge turnover of players at the end of the season.

Inevitable. Five loanees (although perhaps we might try to sign Kane?). You'd suspect that Tiendalli, Williamson, Raglan, Mehmeti, GvK, Roberts and Hemmings are certainties to go. Since they have already been the subject of offers, Eastwood, Rothwell and Ledson are likely to be sold. That's 15 players and there are more that could IMO do with replacing or have been out on loan that may or may not be retained. I'd say that of our first team squad (including those out on loan) of 36 (!!!) at least 15 and possibly 20 will not be here next season - and many of those left will be young players or solid workhorses rather than players likely to drive us up the leagues. A big (and expensive) rebuilding job. Let's hope Tiger has deep pockets and the new manager has an extensive network of contacts!

Injuries really have played havoc this season.

If the likes of Nelson, Raglan, Hall, Rothwell, Pekalski, and to a lesser extent Williamson and Obika and Thomas (at various points during the season) had not been out injured, I don’t think we’d find ourselves in the position we’re currently in (even taking into account all the off the off-field turmoil).
