The cat has made a trio of my heroes to go today.

I'm gonna stop looking at the news.....

RIP ..... as well as Chelsea's keeper, when the Chelsea team of the late 60s early 70s were were percieved as footballing playboys, he was also called up to the England national squad on a number of occasions, though - and Im 'relying' on my not too great memory here- I believe he only played once for England?

Seven caps for England, most notably the game against West Germany at the World Cup in 1970.
Incidentally, I heartily recommend "Back Home" with the story behind the England trip...a good read!

Cheers for the correction @Berliner

Saw him play on March 21. They bet Man Utd 2:1. I think Hutchison 2 Morgan 1. Was in Shed end. Went with Quarry boys. 15,000 locked out supposedly.

RIP the cat. I always thought it was unfair he was judged on one mistake in one game for England. We had to blame someone, of course, didn't we?

RIP Peter Bonetti (aka The Cat).
Remember the Peter Bonetti gloves? Very thin green cotton.
Yes. The first GK gloves sold with a players name attached. As a young boy I went to the Sportsman shop in Cowley centre to buy a pair and was served by Nick Harris!!
