Matches U's Too 'nice'?

Only Ipswich (68) and Sunderland (69) have had more yellow cards than us (65) so I think we're just being smarter about it than other teams + avoiding second bookings
and a bit of credit to KR for 'protecting' those on yellow cards by substituting them, good management

how many of those 65 yellow cards were given to the coaching staff etc? KR has picked up a few, even the kitman has been on the end of a booking

I rather like us "Doing unto others" as they have done to us over the years, you need a bit of the dark arts hence JM being used well......

Sorry I said it......... :ROFLMAO:

I agree. A sign of good management.
We can do the nasty side well but are controlled enough to know when to stop.
As you say Gorrin has been 'protected' a few times too!!

It's also examples like Dickie being given the captain's armband when one booking away from a ban. Dickie gets to speak with the ref before and during the game, and maybe gets a little more discretion than he may otherwise get. It's all down to game management and marginal gains which make a big difference.

I think it's the sign of a side that knows how to go right up to the line but not beyond it. Which is a very good thing - I don't think we have lacked a 'nasty' side this season, but I do think we have managed to avoid too much stupidity and too many needless cards - and any of the 'dark arts' have at least been done with a bit of subtlety!

I really don’t think referees buy that. I suppose the proof might be in the pudding, how many yellows has our proper captain, Mous, picked up in the 35 odd games he must have played this season as captain ?

Mous has got 6 yellows in the league so far (3 right at the start!)

so that’s hardly conclusive evidence that your skipper steers clear of yellows. Bit of kidology from Robbo. Refs are rubbish at this level but I cant see any being sweet talked out of dishing a yellow if their minds made up.

Kidology it may be, but if Dickie goes through this period without picking up a booking and suspension, then it has worked.

If I get the time, will be interesting to see the breakdown by position of the yellow cards. The heat map will quite hot around Rodriguez and Dickie, with Mackie too.
