Stewart Donald anyone.....

Problem is Stuart is a Oxford fan, tiger is not, Stuart may have now if not will have later in life more cash than tiger. Ex chairman never wanted to sell to Stuart as he never liked him, I think if Stuart can sell Sunderland soon he will be Oxfords chairman within 5 years good luck to him he wants the best for the club
hope your prediction bears fruit @Archieyellow .... Stewart will have learnt a lot in the hot seat at Sunderland

Stewart didn't want to pay the asking price, and even Charlie admitted that they were trying to get the club on the cheap. They didn't have the money to get the stadium and were hoping to do a deal where Kassam, the council and significant sponsors/naming rights would finance a stadium.

SD is a fan of Oxford, and has helped us in the past. But his experience at Eastleigh and Sunderland show that he isn't very good at running football clubs. I'm also not so sure that SD will ever have the finances that our board has.

How did he run Eastleigh badly?

You can definitely question the managerial appointments he made, alongside the money spent on players. Perhaps even the lack of progress to L2 for what he paid, but as we know, getting out of that league is a bitch

For all his alleged faults at Eastleigh his current enterprise sit nine points clear of us in fifth in League 1. It’s also fair to say Sunderland were a bit of a basket case when he took over (unlike OUFC when Tiger took the reigns.

Perhaps SD did look to buy the club for less than DE valued it at but that doesn’t make him any less of an OUFC fan or any less capable if he was to take charge.

At present we have an owner and Board who haven’t really provided much of an idea of the actual plan they have for OUFC, a club that was ‘bought’ by selling assets.

Of course no one knows whether SD would have done a good/better job but let’s not pretend that Tiger is superior.

I'm guessing you haven't looked at the deal to buy Sunderland? That was done by borrowing from future earnings on parachute payments. And I'm guessing you also have no concept of how our club was being run before Tiger took over? No training ground, squad destroyed by Pep etc.

Let's see where both journeys finish before deciding on superiority?

Sunderland budget us probably 4 times ours. One if the biggest in the L1 ever.
They really should be far more than 9 points above us ..m

Theres no issue in banking on future earnings if you’re expecting (which I think they will) to go up.

The squad under Pep still had plenty of saleable assets as we’ve seen!

Happy to see what happens come May and hope Tiger and co prove me wrong obviously!

Wycombe's budget too it would appear. I’m not sure SD making more money available for wages and transfers than Tiger is necessarily something to castigate him for.

I am.not castigating him
I am saying that Sunderland should have walked the league last season and this.
Never has a club had such a huge huge advantage over everybody else.
Incidentally rumours that little Wycombes budget is not that different to ours

If he is not just hope he drops that s**t Charlie I don’t want to see him anywhere nr the board of OUFC.

Just for clarity could you please inform us of our budget approximately for the last 2 ( including this 1) seasons.

How many winding up petitions has he faced per year in the last decade of football ownership?

What were Sunderlands debts and league position when he took over?

To quote tiger from March 2019 “very competitive”.

Like the rest of the posters on here I’ve got absolutely no idea on the budget which is why I didn’t raise it in my original post on SD.

The budget is very relevant when people are suggesting that Sunderland are doing well to be 9 points clear of us.
Bolton and Blackburn went up with large budgets compared to most sides in L1. Sunderland in the first season dwarfed this.
They probably had by far the highest budget in L1 maybe ever.
It was a massive surprise that they didnt go up easily.
They have pulled it round and could still go up (Parkinson was good appointment at the time even if many Sunderland fans were not Impressed)

'Very competitive' is a subjective term, more so when uttered by any Oufc board member -given that in the january window 'no players are for sale, unless its an exceptional offer' ' exceptional being another subjective term
