General Robinson Player Development

This reminds me of the Ian Atkins days when he never played Dean Whitehead. He would be on the bench and get a few minutes here and there.
Then due to lots of injuries Deano was played and did so well that Atkins was put in a position where he couldn’t drop him

We will only know how good Dan is if he is played from the start. Taylor is always going to be our first choice striker and up until recently when we have been winning games Mackie is ideal to come on and see a game out.

Things have changed now ,other teams have worked us out and we need different options.
We have nothing to lose by starting Dan,and quite honestly I would like to see both Dan and Taylor start together

It's the Alex Fisher fanaticism again...

Huge expectations are often not helpful for a young player. Last season it was Harvey Bradbury.

He clearly has raw potential and deserves more chances but like you I hope some of the expectations being built by supporters doesn't backfire. Maybe this is what KR is trying to counter.

Personally I don't have great expectations of him. BUT surely he deserves a chance to see what he can do? Maybe not in place of Taylor, but (from what we have seen, and the stats) he is more effective than any of the other strikers, mentioning no names. The only caveat there is that I thought Browne was pretty decent centrally against Blackpool.

I don’t have a clue if Agyei is the answer up front, he looked decent in the one game I have seen him come on in against Newcastle, bit hopeless against Man City, but we will never find out unless we give him ago.

If he can’t get at least on the bench Saturday after scoring yesterday then it’s a bit strange, especially in place of a 34 year old Mackie whose legs have gone, doesn’t score and is now reduced to running around slowly jumping into people and talking to the ref for most of the game.

In all honesty, Mackie and Agyei play materially different positions at present - Mackie has been played as the sole striker up front, Agyei is played on the right wing - so comparisons so far are kind of moot at present.

Agyei has played centrally in the vast majority of appearances he’s made for us (apart from yesterday night)

It’s strange how keen you are to bend the truth and obfuscate when it comes to this topic...

Played on the right against City, has played there in other appearances too. Mackie and have largely played in different areas of the pitch within our formation haven't they?

Yes but did he not get into a position to get these 1 on 1

He did that bit really well, the finishing at the end was a tad woeful though. Fabio Sole put some lovely through balls for him iirc but his pace does add an alternative approach, a bit like Gavin Whyte did with his pace. I agree he warrants chances but just trying to counter some of expectations that are getting lumped on his back with some of the comments on here.

Played wide against Newcastle!

Played centrally in both of his starts in the trophy...
And didn't look great in fairness. That's not a dig at him, we didn't play great as a team in either game and he was only just getting up to speed. But he didn't make a claim for a central position with either performance.

People talking about player scoring ratio v number of shots per game. Out of interest, watch ‘Sonny’ in my B team...(Spurs) - usually scores on his third shot. Given the number of shots Dan has had, what’s his score ratio?

Exactly

Nothing like Atkins.
He generally didnt like playing young players. He also had Sam Ricketts and didnt rate him (look what happened to him)
KR has always brought young players through. He has been exceptional at it.
So for whatever reason, there would be a reason.
R O last night suggested that in his time on, Agyei looked tired and didnt close down?
I wonder if there could he a fitness issue?
