General all seater stadium requirements...

Will the standing areas be allocated?

Am I remembering wrong or have the Tories been in power for the last ten years? Could have been done sooner. BUT better late than never.

Not exactly a done deal though:
“I am looking forward to having the SGSA interim report and once I get that report, we will be able to consider the evidence."
“We need to be guided by the evidence and be mindful of everyone; the fans, the Hillsborough families. Clearly, the most important thing is the safety of fans and people at grounds.”

This applies to the Prem and Championship apparently. What about the currently all-seater (at least nominally!) stadia at levels below that? Will they be allowed to introduce standing areas?

Huge difference in having a majority enabling "things" to be done. (y)
If safe standing works, we know it does, then roll it out.
Sadly that needs a change in legislation that is never a quick thing.

Lower League clubs are already allowed standing areas, hence Morecambe, Barnet etc had terracing built in their new stadium. All Seater requirements currently only apply to PL/Championship currently.

We were caught by the legislation as early on in its existence we were still in the Championship long enough meaning we needed an all Seater Stadium iirc. So yes I'd assume safe standing can be introduced into existing grounds/stands at all levels and we have done that already with Ox-Rails. Bristol City, Wolves and Shrewsbury have also already introduced safer standing as trials again iirc.

Yes, sorry that's what I meant. Are lower league clubs that currently have all-seater stadia going to be allowed to retrospectively install standing areas?

To separate the answer, yes (my assumption) if they allow safe standing. Already some Championship/L1 clubs have introduced trial safe standing as mentioned above with the obvious one in this case being Shrewsbury which was previously an all seater.

Not convinced that a properly researched paper followed by sensible legislation would not have got the support of many MPs across the house TBH.

Unless, like many other things, it was stuck in the "B" malaise.
I`m not sure folk realise how much that impacted on the day to day business in the house.
It was all consuming and obstructive to many proposal`s, orders and reviews of legislation.

Perhaps wrt the Hillsborough families we could ask them to organise a survey of the 12,000 people that have a seat season ticket on the kop.

It's so good to see that report come out and at least provide a chink of light to the angst in the North West about standing at football and prove that we can move on from the 1990s at long last!

So, with this in mind, perhaps we can look forward to areas with seats where folk sit, and areas with seats where folk stand? And, where the ticket sales denote which is which. Hooray! Common sense will prevail!

I suspect the away areas at currently all seater stadia will be the very last to get this change, if at all, unfortunately.

Or the thousands of fans who went to Istanbul ticketless who then somehow [emoji2369] gained access to the ground.....

Going back to Hillsborough, whilst tragic 96 fans lost their lives, but, and, having looked at numerous videos etc ones which show the “empty pen” at the Leppings Lane end and then looking at the backlog of fans outside the ground (time comparisons on YouTube) I’m struggling to figure out where all the innocent fans outside the ground are supposed to go?

They all had tickets, none of them were ticketless or attempting to gain access unlawfully..

Before you slate this, it’s widely known on Merseyside this is what went on, hence the everyday Everton fan hating Liverpool FC with a passion.

"....96 fans lost their lives, but....."

There is no BUT, 96 fans went to a game and a few minutes into the game they were dead. Continuing to question their innocence is sickening.

Pathetic as always.
