Eastwood
Long Dickie Mousinho Ruffels
Kelly Gorrin
Henry Brannagan Sykes
Agyei

Subs - Stevens, Moore, Hanson, Thorne, Holland, Mackie, Taylor

Eastwood
Long Dickie Mous Ruffels
Kelly Gorrin Thorne
Browne Taylor Holland

Brannagan looked knackered against newcastle so rest him. Henry to come on as a sub. If Browne is injured play Ageyi.

Sykes has to start, he’s improved so much this season, creates lots & has added craft & learnt the darker arts as seen in the professional foul at st James park!

I assume Henry will still be injured so not included on that basis. The worry is that some of the players will be absolutely sh*gged after the amount of ground they covered vs Newcastle

Is Gorrin still one yellow away from suspension?

Depends on whether the guy can walk after all of his efforts last night! Never stopped running for 120 minutes. Same is true of Ruffels & Long as well.....

I think that's going to factor heavily into team selection for the weekend.
You can be certain that the likes of Gorrin & Mousinho will be playing, because they're in our best XI (or close to it) and they had less than normal midweek workloads. If fit, then Henry & Browne will be playing for the same reason. As for everyone else - it depends on how much the key contributors are still hurting on Saturday morning, because that was a monumental shift they put in against Newcastle.

my team would be...!
Easty
Long Dickie Mous Ruffles
Henry Gorrin Brannigan
Sykes Taylor Brown

a difficult team to select to be fair...
Aygei deserves a run of games
Mackie tends to be first choice of KR to rough central defenders up
Elliot Moore has done nothing wrong
Hanson has to get his chance at some time
Kelly looked a bit overweight to go 90 minutes
Thorne only just coming back but needs games to get “match fit”

WHO WOULD BE A FOOTBALL MANAGER....

Just as a starting point, I don’t think we should be changing our formation!

Now, given we have another game three days after Peterborough on Saturday, I think we need to be clever with the team selection. Players who played the full game against Newcastle, including extra time, probably should be rested on Saturday wherever possible, and then brought back in on Tuesday, so basically a week break for them. Therefore, depending on injuries etc (How fit is Browne? Henry?) I’d make two teams, A) for Peterborough and then B) for Burton.

A) Sat against Peterborough:

Eastwood
Long Dickie Mousinho Ruffels
Gorrin
Henry Thorne/Kelly
Agyei Mackie Browne

Maybe Hanson for Long if he’s knackered. Whichever one of Thorne or Kelly is fitter. And only Henry or Browne if they’re fully fit, and even then aim to give them 60-75 mins. Don’t risk Brannigan or Taylor yet, keep sensibly managing them back.

B) Tuesday against Burton:

Eastwood
Long Dickie Moore Ruffels
Thorne/Kelly
Sykes Brannigan
Holland Taylor Browne

Bring back in Brannigan, Taylor, Sykes and Holland now they’ve had a week to recover. Assuming Browne didn’t play 90 mins on Sat then keep him in the team. Maybe rest Gorrin, and maybe bring Hanson in for Long.

Gorrin is first on the team sheet, he makes things tick in front of the back four going forward and breaking up the play... The only reason he would not play every game is suspension or injured...

If Henry isn't fit move Sykes back into midfield and bring Holland into the front three.

I would go for that if Brannagan, Browne, Henry and Taylor are fit and able to play 90 minutes.

Long Moore Dickie Ruffles
Henry (if fit) Gorrin Kelly
Sykes Browne Holland.

Really hope he doesn't start Mackie doesn't offer enough from the start - wouldn't mind seeing him last 20 if we go ahead.
