FA Cup Prem teams fielding their u23?

If one Prem club choose to field an U23 team, then all prem ship teams left in should do the same.

IMHO... If one Premiership team fields a full U23 team at this stage of the competition...ALL premiership teams left in the comp should be forced to do the same. Plus.... If they then win, they must continue and complete their involvement in the comp with U23s.

what do you think?

If the bindippers did field an entire team of U23s, lets be realistic here, the FA wont do anything ...PL clubs are practically untouchable, they do what they like.... FA do sweet FA

Sarge. Apparently they are going to do just that. (Field the U23s.... And the FA do sweet FA) smacks of the Bolton saga where “some” L1 teams benefited from playing against kids.

Money talks

If their u23s win, then fair enough as they are good enough. If they get knocked out, then who cares.

It's different to the Bolton thing, as it only affects them and the team they are playing against. .. No one else.

Up to the club who they play, not us or the FA.
We rest players in the cups too.
Lets be fair to Liverpool, they are focussed on the Premiership and Champions league this season, and if I supported them I would want them to focus on these competitions too.

what I would say is that the likes of Matip, Lovren etc who have been on the fringes should be begging the manager to play. They are fresh from injury and it’ll be Valuable game minutes for them and if they win then an opportunity to play more games in the competition in the future.

Absolutely no problem with regular first team starters being given a rest, especially with the euros this summer.

At the start of each season, clubs should name a squad of, say, 30 players that they will use in every competition which they play in, bit like naming your international squad before the World Cup. For the great majority of clubs, the same players are going to be named in every competition squad, but the PL clubs have the depth to name different squads for every competition if they so wish.

Firstly, that gives the fans of opposition clubs the knowledge that they may or definitely won't see the "A list" stars should they be drawn against a club and secondly, it would stop clubs playing weaker squads until they reach the semis and the final, when the big boys get trundled out to win a medal when the spade work was done by others who ultimately get nothing for their endeavours.

simple solution each club names an 18 man squad for the 2 domestic cup competitions which i believe they have to in the champions league (name a squad)

Give a champions league place to FA Cup winner and a Europa league place to the EFL cup winner. That would get them interested. Except of course the top in the EPL would never vote for that.

Champions League they have A list and B list for their squads. A list is the main squad, 25 including 8 locally trained players (if they don't have 8 that meet the rules the squad number is reduced). B list are for u20 players that have been with the club for at least 2 years. The match day team squad can be named from A & B lists. So in effect, if they wanted to name their kids they could.

It weakens the competition when they field under strength teams. Of course they are more interested in the spoils of the Champions League or the riches of the title. Liverpool lost 0-5 to Villa because they couldn’t be bothered with another trophy

Couldn’t be bothered with another trophy?
Liverpool were in Qatar! Hardly not bothering.
Man Utd didn’t bother with the cup a few years ago when they didn’t enter because they were away at the WC championships.

I've not got a problem with Liverpool (or any other team) making as many changes as they want, only issue is the fact we're not allowed to do the same for the EFL trophy thingy
Precisely this. When any professional football club can play whatever team they like in any competition they see fit, then I won’t think anything of it.

They could’ve got through to the final if they’d put a team out that was strong enough.

How would you suggest they did that?
They played two games in Qatar within 4-5 days in the same week as the game with Villa with the reserves playing the semi final and the stronger team in the final.
They put a team out, weak or not.
Not a lot they could have done differently imo.

The EFL Cup winners already get a place in the Europa League.

And further to that, Premier League sides can name 25 players in their league squad, but don't have to register players who are 21 or younger who've been at the club for three years. So for whatever competition, you could name a squad entirely made up of the youth players, and restricting that rule would just make it harder than it already is for players to come through the ranks at Premier League sides.

If clubs like Liverpool don't play their young players when it's a midweek FA Cup replay at home to a side a couple of divisions lower down than them when they're supposed to be on a Premier League-sanctioned winter break, all whilst they're chasing the Premier League title for the first time in 30 years and back-to-back Champions League wins, then when will they play?
