Roofe, Lundsram, Maguire, Wright, Mullins, O’Dowda, Hylton, Sercombe, Kenny, Dunkley, MacDonald, Skarz, Johnson.....
What the FCUK have we done......................
I actually truly believe that we could have had a team that could have held their own in the top 10 of the Championship.......
.
Appleton in change....
Eastwood in goal,
Nelson partnering Chey or Jake Wright in the centre of defence....
Johnson at left back, creating chances for fun...
MacDonald or Callum on the wing in front of Kenny at right back.
Ledson in the middle with Lundstram, (Sercombe close to starting)
Maguire with the free roll making way for O’dowda or MacDonald when his legs give way..
Roofe and Hylton scoring the goals up front.....
.
We could have trebled their wages and still been better off than with wasting money on “most” of the current crop of players we have signed...
We had it all, and it all disappeared before we could stop it.....
.
I have spent many, many years thinking what could have been since our exploits in 1983/84 and 1984/85 seasons to know that everything can be taken away so quickly, we even should have participated in Europe in 1986/87, but that is another story, 1995/96 put us back on the map with promotion to the 2nd tier, 2006 condemed is to the unthinkable, 2010 put us back to normality, 2016 raised the bar with our expectations, I just hope it’s not another 30 years before we can enjoy the success we all want....

Not quite nightmarish yet.
13 games to play and 10 points(?) needed.
Will start with 1at Northampton.
Keep dreaming.

Drama queen post. We still sit in a league position which is higher than every season but one in the last 19 years.

Of that list of thirteen players;
One wasn't ours to determine his future
Arguably FIVE were out-of-contract and forced moves / wanted to leave to improve themselves or their circumstances
Two were out-of-contract and Oxford reportedly offered terms, which the player rejected
Four were either out-of-contract or weren't getting a new one, so left on mutually agreeable terms, lightening the wage bill
Leaving one whom we received a fair offer for, and who behaved so well about it that it would have been reductive to stand in his way

Assuming the blunt reality that Oxford United needs a wage structure for a good reason, and it is simply not possible, however wishful, to make increasingly lucrative contract offers to OOC strikers stuck in a bidding war...

...I can't really see how this club, in the real world, could or SHOULD have done much more to keep ANY of these players.

Never Give up, never surrender. The players have, but us fans will not. I believe, forever Yellow.

A year ago we all felt so positive about the future of our club. Back then, I thought we would seriously be challenging for a place in the championship, we would be closer to owning the stadium and of course, watching some really exciting football. Sadly this isn't going to happen, the thought of being back in League Two is worrying. It was a crap league in 15/16, I hate to think what it's like now.

Half of those players are decent League 1 players nothing more, a couple are good League 2 players nothing more, and there's not a single 'good' Championship player there except maybe the unproven Kenny

Not to mention we couldn't afford to bring some of them in without others already having left

This is beyond fantasy

The problem this year is 50 points doesn’t look to be anywhere enough. Probably 55 needed. We desperately need another couple of wins quickly to avoid being sucked in. A new manager ASAP is vital as we are drifting at the wrong time.
We have the nucleus of a good time and need injury problems resolved. We look powderpuff up front since the departure of Jack.

Come on...dont be ridiculous, theres an easy way that we could afford to keep these players and treble their wages.... Eales should have stumped up more cash put of his own back pocket.....

It frustrates me so much, people who call for more and more money to be spent need to think back to the mid 90s when the club were unable to pay staff and they were getting by on food parcels etc, yes this season has been a downgrade on the last couple but there was always half a chance this would happen, not many clubs continue on an upward curve indefinetely.

As long as we dont go down, having a few seasons of mediacrity in League 1 is by no means a disaster.
