+++ FACup 3rd Round 4/1/2020 OUFC V Hartlepool Utd +++

I never understand people who think having a 'weaker' team at home guarantees progress and more money. When you get to rounds 4 and above, we tend to be one of the 'weaker teams'

Because we’re more likely to beat a league two, league one or Championship team than we are Man City?

Baptiste... That is now 3 times in 4 games when he's done something brilliant to give us decisive leads. He's surely creating too much noise at the moment not to be the subject of a LOT of interest in January, that goal today is all over Twitter and is one of the best individual goals I can remember us scoring.
Since Shandon v West Ham, surely?!

More likely, but no guarantees. I certainly won't be turning my nose up if we draw Liverpool at home next, and wishing we had Tranmere instead as we think it would give us a better chance to go through to another round.

Its good to sit in the south stand for a change it made me realise how lucky i am to have a season ticket in the north stand definatley renewing next season
God I've sat in the south stand previously for some game when North stand closed, but please please don't make me sit with those moaning moaning people again. (Great restraint shown in description there) it's like being in a different stadium

No guarantees, but a higher chance. Has anyone said they don’t want Liverpool? I think it’s just that, while there are teams lower ranked than us still in, it makes sense to want to draw them at home?

First half was a painful watch. We had so much possession but other than a shot by Hall we didn’t look at all like scoring.
As soon as we equalised there was only one winner. They were blowing in the first half and gaps were always going to be created.
Thought they should have persevered with the long ball as Dickie was struggling the first half.
Credit to Hartlepool fans who backed their team for 90 minutes. A good following considering such a long journey and just after Xmas.
The pool fans were excellent, proper support that

It's not a decision made in terms of respect, but one in terms of money. Why open the home end of the North stand when there's no demand for it? The gains might be marginal but it means the club spending less on operating costs for that section of the stand.
Apparently a huge number of walk ups today. Even yesterday they were expecting 4500, 5000 at most (even with expected walk ups). Same thing led to only 1 Farr's kiosk being open in the East stand

We had 65 per cent possession first half and were getting behind them a few times, but generally struggled to get through their massed defence. So at the races, but not quite all over them.
Oh okay I didn't see the stats.
Glad we won and onto next week vs Rotherham

f*****g genius whoever decided to have only Hartlepool support in north stand (not) .... theyre making some serious noise.... congratulations to whoever made the call to not allow home support in the north stand , give yourself a pat on the back whydontcha??? :(
They were very loud throughout the game even up to the final whistle

I thought Sykes had a decent game as well. Lots of industry and enthusiasm, he also linked up well to create threats down the wing and helped us move forward with urgency.

Makes no more sense than having a big fish to go at - certainly not enough to question someone wanting a big tie on a forum - and if we go out we have the money and less games for the run in. Home tie or big away day are my preference.

He was much better in the second half when the game opened up, and also started to develop an understanding with Sam Long. I have to say he wasn't really at the races in the first half though...

We had a comedy Grumpy old bloke in front of us sitting in the South Stand Upper just for a change. The 1st half, he actually provided the entertainment rather than the game. He clearly didn't seem to grasp how we now play the game.

I won't make the mistake of watching from there again though as I felt detached from the game. Tbf, that might be due to having watched from the East Stand, and the London Road before that, for so many years that it is just wrong for me.
