National News Official 2019 General Election Thread

Quite simply he isn't a good leader. He maybe is a good backbench MP
You write as if Jeremy Corbyn is completely in charge of all the situations you refer to. Unfortunately he has had to contend with the the most virulent undermining process in recent political history. The odds have been stacked against him, but Labour has done better than might have been expected in by-elections and in the 2017 general election.
As well as the obvious opponents, he has had to cope with Blairite MPs and Labour right-wing MPs who have simply been unable to suck up the fact that a left of centre candidate won the leadership election.
On his election as leader the LP attracted huge numbers of new recruits and has the largest membership of any European party. This has dismayed the right-wing MPs and has made it impossible for them to move against him openly, so they have done it in covert ways.
He has sound values and principles and he does not believe in flashy 'charismatic' leadership, which is another thing that the media can't deal with.
It's a shame that he's not 20 years younger and therefore a bit more energetic in presentation, but that's not his fault.
His approach to leadership is way better than the pseudo-charismatic model that has failed time and time again.

Those situations I mentioned, he did have control of.

Boris Johnson’s repulsive littlr sidekick. In opposition to the blonde liar until a few months ago he’ll now do anything to get in the gang

foreign Secretary, Dominic Raab, denied that the Conservatives were politicising the attack.
However, he cited the incident to warn against what he said would be harmful Labour policies. “The question is, for people who are watching the show, who they trust: Boris Johnson to keep us safe or Jeremy Corbyn, with his track record?” he told Sky News.

What a cowardly little scrote

Wasn't this exactly what you were doing within hours of the attack?

Questions I would like to ask the party leaders
Boris Johnson. You were recently asked a question by a WASPI woman whether you would consider reinstating the pension payment to the women who turned 60. You said it was unaffordable. It was suggested that this sum was £58billion. If it is unaffordable where has the money been spent? The promise given to increase the police by 20000, how will do you that as well as 50000 nurses especially as you maintain unemployment is at its lowest for decades.

Jeremy Corbyn. You appeared to have a knee jerk reaction in promising a refund to the WASPI women affected by the legislation to raise the retirement age. You were unable to give a clear indication how this refund would be costed. Are you able to do so now, or will this promise be dropped if you win the election.

Jo Swinson. Why should we trust you in government to keep your promises because you went back on so many previous promises in coalition, notably tuition fees and universal credit which has since caused so much hardship.
Universal Credit has caused so much poverty. What would you also do to reduce the dependence on food banks?

Lefties operate under the do as I say, not as I do mantra. It's kind of funny to see the mental hoops they jump through - but heaven forbid you point it out, they get all angry and abusive.

Moving on...

I see Labour are offering more "free stuff," now it's cheaper rail fares. I thought all their election pledges were fully costed by taxing billionaires and big companies, clearly the mantra lasted as long as the polls kept going down.

Kind of funny how the veil has fallen so quickly and how angry McDonnell got when people poked holes in their "fully costed" manifesto. Same old Labour, same old lies. We'll all be fleeced for their own vanity projects.

And has anyone seen Lady Nugee and Keir Starmer recently? Are they visiting JRM in political Siberia?

Lord Snooty JRM was spotted in a hustings event in a pub in Bristol over the weekend .... Im surprised he was allowed out of his Country Estate prior to Dec 12:rolleyes:

I think cheaper rail fares and free buses are a great idea. Good for community. Good for local shops. Essential for reducing carbon footprint
.
Johnson can run away from the debate but he can’t run away from the reality.

Really interesting looking at the BBC poll of polls showing the average trends (up to date as of today). You can see an almost exact symmetry between the Con increase and Brexit drop, and the Labor rise and Lib Dem drop. I guess these are the key swing voters.
Brexit party are more or less decimated, so I can't see much more movement up or down as i expect they are close to the core unmovable support. So strangely this election may come down to the lib dem vote. Will lib dem continues to move to labor, giving labor their best chance? Or will lib dems recover?

It all depends if theres any sizable degree of tactical voting (in England) IMO.... a large number of Shire based constituencies, as well as those in the South West (from Somerset, through Devon & Cornwall), where only a Lib Deb vote has any chance of unseating tories .... Scotland, and NI 'look after' themselves, however Wales could be a battle ground where Labour could lose key seats to Plaid Cymru?
