What must he be thinking when he is sat on the bench while Tiendalli appears undroppable even when playing bloody awful?

But has Canice been the answer, especially at home ? His time will come

Tiendali was not the reason for the defeat today.

Well he was at fault for the 1st goal and tried to do the same thing again. Carroll has done very well previously and certainly can't do any worse. It might help the rest of the defence having some pace on the right which Tiendalli has none (which is understandable with his injury problems) especially as Williamson likewise has none.

You need to build partnerships all over the pitch.

The defensive ‘triangle’ today of Williamson, Tiendalli and Xemi was awful, slow in body and in mind, particularly Xemi he had a shocker.

The midfield did a fine job of making the back 4 look like chumps today. Tiendalli wasn't great, but I don't see how Carroll would have made it better. Frankly, his petulance/frustration may have led to a red card. His time will come, and he will make a massive impact when it does.

Thought Xemi was at fault for the first?

Listening to the game on Wish FM (Wigan) they felt that Wigan knew that Tiendelli was a weakness and that they were exploiting it.

Despite Pep's claim, we need the vigour of youth in this team. Young, Hungry players. Yes they'll make mistakes but you know that at least they'll bust a gut trying to impress and will learn from their mistakes.

Bring Carroll in, Ledson and Rothwell. Give Napa some game time to see if he's got what it takes.

I thought Eastwood was at least partially responsible for the first. He rolled the ball out to a man standing still, close to him and facing him who was already being closed down. Then we were under pressure immediately. Sure, other players could have done better, but not putting ourselves in that situation to begin with would have stopped even the possibility of it happening.

Eastwood is obviously under orders to roll the ball out most of the time (he didn't used to do it so much), and the orders are coming from Clotet, but surely he has to apply some common sense?

To my mind it looks as if the opposition are targeting not just Tiendalli but the combination of Tiendalli, Williamson and Xemi on the right hand side. Two ageing defenders struggling with pace, Williamson unable to get across and cover for Tiendalli when needed, this in turn pushes the fullback into a narrower position to compensate giving the opposition wingers lots of room on the outside to exploit. Sadly Xemi gives no protection and help, he looks like a lost schoolboy out there.

From where I was sat in the North Stand Xemi was at fault for the first goal.

Tiendalli passed the ball to their player with no Oxford player very close to where he passed the ball. Xemi and Williamson were bad as well but they didn't pass the ball to a Wigan player in space and through on goal.

The point being he has done this a number of times this season (including other times yesterday) and hasn't learnt because he keeps doing it. It is almost like he passes the ball without looking.

I think (but only from seeing games on screen), that Tiendalli may have fared better if Pep set the team up correctly to cope with Wigan. If things were kept compact as they should have been then he would have had the support of a deeper lying midfield and more compact back four. As it is, with no protection from a powder-puff midfield AND being asked to get forward and leave space for their wingers it is a recipe for disaster. Ironically CC MAY have fared better than Tiendalli given the set-up. As it is, the entire tactics, line-up and dealing with going behind were just absolutely non-existent yesterday. And this is the fault of one man only...

I think you might be right with Wigan targeting our right hand side, I lost count of the amount of attacks that came down that side. I'd been starting to like the look of Xemi, but playing him yesterday against a team that will give him no space and run at him was no less than cruel. Its obvious he needs time to take a first touch and look up, but I don't think he was helped by Ruffels next to him.

From my seat in the East stand, he was definitely at fault for the first goal. He got the ball from Williamson, tried to play a weak pass to either Tiendalli/Henry and it was cut out as it left his feet. Can't bring myself to watch the highlights.

Bradford player who was sent off for his 'tackle' on him has had his ban overturned on appeal, don't know how they've managed that one

Really??? According to the BBC report of the match "The shine was taken off Bradford's victory by the sending off of leading-scorer Wyke in stoppage time for a nasty foul on Carroll."

I thought they attacked our left back too. Their right hand side was very strong and pacey.

Carroll needs curb his off field antics of he's going to make it. Believe he's had a couple of warnings from the management already.
