Over the last few weeks on T'Manor podcast, we've been building a "Last Pick in PE" XI of the some of the poorer players to have pulled on a yellow shirt. Either through one off horror appearances, consistently being under average or being memorable for the wrong reasons, we've slowly worked our way through a lineup for a 4-4-2.

Currently, we're running a poll to take one of the wide positions with choices from Courtney Pitt, Gino van Kessel, Kieron St Amie and Simon Hackney. This poll can be found at
Take a look, pass on your comments and more importantly, cast your vote!
There will be a second poll for the other wide position some time next week. We appreciate that everyone has different opinions so we're open to hearing as many of them as possible and then try to make room to discuss them on future episodes. We're not expecting everyone to agree with every position, that's the beauty of the polls and we have seen a fair amount of debate as we've gone through the weeks.
The XI as stands is:
GK - Mike Salmon
RB - Dwight Tiendalli
CB - Ben Futcher
CB - Leo Roget
LB - Tom Newey

T'Manor podcast is put together by a group of Oxford fans who are all based or have been based in Yorkshire and are members of the Yorkshire Yellows supporters group. We generally release a new episode every Sunday night/Monday morning with content including match reviews, match previews, a L1 wrapup, an on this day feature and a OUFC themed quiz. You can follow our twitter feed at https://twitter.com/t_manorpodcast whilst our 15 episodes so far are available to listen at

Ben Futcher! A tall man who actually got shorter when he jumped! I remember watching him play for us at the Don Valley stadium vs Rotherham - it was about this time of year. I remember that because both sets of supporters stood up and observed the silence impeccably - and TVP took the opportunity to wander around filming everyone... pillocks. The pitch was bloody miles away in the middle of a running track and we were faced by a completely empty seating area opposite. Futcher was noticeable because of his height (you could hardly make out who the players were, they were so far away), and that did him no favours!

wasnt Tony Obi a winger? .... hard to tell with just one first team appearance as a sub (15 min cameo) V Watford..... an OUFC 'player' in the late 70s/ early 80s , I think?

hed get my vote for one of the wingers in that XI , except hes not an option:cautious:

We’ve had a few useless wingers in our past like Marcus Kelly or Craig nelthorpe or Lewis haldane how about Joel ledgister just to name a few ( spellings maybe abit wrong)

So I don't do Twitter, so can't vote in this poll.....

…...but it was Courtney Pitt, hands down. The first of Graeme Rix's signings, I think, and was absolutely awful in every respect. Couldn't shoot, couldn't pass, couldn't cross, didn't track back and wasn't even all that quick. Led the post-Atkins charge from a place in the automatics to missing the playoffs in a very short amount of time.

I also feel that Leo Roget and Tom Newey have been hard done by there.
Yes, they were both bad......but they weren't Ian McGuckin, Lee Jarman or Alex Jeannin-level bad.

Jarman, McGuckin and Jeannin all featured in the relevant polls for their positions. I was amazed to see Tom Newey top the left back poll but it probably highlights the majority age range that use twitter.

Youngsters of today.....don't know what they missed.

After the 2000/01 season of seeing some combination of Richardson/Robertson/McGuckin/Jarman/McGowan & Hatswell concede 100 goals in a single league campaign......I don't believe any Oxford defense will ever look quite as incompetent again......

I can believe that there have been worse defenders in yellow than some of the 2000/01 team.

I can't believe that there's ever been a worse defense collectively than that year.
I mean we conceded 100 goals in the league!! Since entering the football league, the second worst OUFC defensive performance ever was to concede 80 - which we did twice, but those were both top flight seasons. The next worst was 75!

He was superb for the reserves, when we had a very good team. He was a star of the Football Combination and Perry Groves was in his shadow :) . The others listed couldn't hold a candle to him.

international of some sort too wasnt he? - my reason for flagging him up was he only played 15mins (if that) for the first team

Beat my edit. :(

That said, genuinely the others were no way as good imo, and in a lesser team at that time Tony Obi would have had more chances. I don't know why he didn't have an impact elsewhere but there can be many reasons which aren't down to ability. He was an England youth International according to Rageonline.

I evidently remember Jeannin diving and instead of the fans trying to convince the referee, we were screaming at Jeannin to get up off his a**e.

The name Courtney Pitt has suddenly triggered horrible memories. I thought Emiliano Diaz was bad, but Pitt must have lost the ball every single time he touched it. Absolutely dreadful player.

Courtney Pitt was still better than St Aimee!!
