Manager/Coach Ghost of Apples past

Yes I heard him saying as such on BBC Oxford this morning too.

I know I probably sound like a broken record but Faz would be my first choice as it currently stands, unless we get someone like Grayson (which I think unlikely due to various factors).

Even better would be someone like Beale coming to be assistant (if possible, he may obviously dismiss the suggestion) so that we get fresh approaches and the potential for yet another successor in the future.

Lots of dots to join up, and probably wishful thinking on my part, but I would certainly back that kind of set-up.

It seems that Rothwell hasn't closed the door on signing a new contract which is good. As he says it will obviously depend on the new manager and I guess how he is utilised.

I'm also starting to like the credentials of someone like Michael Beale as long as Faz/Chrissy Allen are significant in the set up which the more I read didn't seem to be the case with Pep.

Spot on. If an experienced manager is off the agenda then I totally agree. I just worry that with a sky sports presenter on the selection panel we seem to be dabbling with the idea of a razzmatazz ‘name’ appointment. Style over substance. I’m sure though that DE is more sensible than that.

Pep was a former academy manager, clearly we didnt get the talent conveyor belt we were expecting there, so this does feel a bit like we could be repeating our mistakes. If we're looking at academy managers with no management experience why not promote our own?

I couldn’t believe the difference in player attitude at Charlton. I can only assume that the players had no confidence in Pep and/or didn’t like him. He also never appeared to be a stupid man, and yet he had them playing in a way that was/is completely unsuited to L1. A very disappointing six months all round......

It would’ve almost been understandable if it was Pep’s first taste of English football but he’s been coaching here long enough to know what’s needed. It was almost as though he had some vision to make us the poor mans Barcelona. Every body knows we’re more like Brazil..
