General Team of the decade

Mine is:

Eastwood
Baldock Dickie Wright Ruffels
Lundstram Brannagan
Henry Maguire O'Dowda
Roofe

There are so many when you think about who is left out but Henry has to be in any side for me based on his consistent output for the team over his time at the club. Dickie pips Nelson for his ability with the ball and aerially. COD pips Johnson because of his attitude on the pitch which was far superior to Johnson.

Do you mean attitude off the pitch? On the pitch Johnson was pretty much excellent for us

It's a tricky one because you have the last half season of our time in the Conference from 2009/10, then a few years of trying to rebuild into a League 2 side but not getting near promtion at a time when Ian Lenagan was looking to get out. Then the rebuild and promotion under Appleton, and where we are now.
Similar to when people compare our players from the top flight years with current players, they are different levels.

Anyway, I'll go for
Clarke (before he had all the shoulder ops)
Baldock, Nelson, Wright, Ruffels
Bulman, Lundstram, Sercombe
Maguire, MacDonald
Roofe

This debate screams of an Official Yellows Forum team of the decade polls doesn't it so we can all fall out about Kevin Sandwith vs Ricardinho vs Tom Newey for the best left back of the decade?

Ripley
Hunt Boateng Futcher Newey
Guy Wilson Baker Parker
Morgan Kerrouche

Oh shite, I thought you said worst team of the decade..

More players I've blanked out of my mind entirely... Ripley? Nope, not a clue.

Johnson's attitude on the pitch in the games before his move absolutely stunk, shirking from challenges and not getting involved trying to force a move. Lego showed the total opposite for example and still got his move.

You know, son of Stuart Ripley, in on emergency loan, rabbit in the headlights performance versus Southend, loan terminated immediately, always plays the tremendous arsehöle when playing at the Kassam since...

Ah, nightmare against Southend, that's why I forget... Way too many days I'd rather forget involving bloody Southend... Not that I am allowed to forget Ricky Otto and that 6-1 shoeing down their place thanks to a certain poster...

For entertainment:
Turley
Whing Duberry Dunkley Ricardinho
Ledson Leven
Mackie Constable Hylton Roofe

To win:
Eastwood
Baldock Wright Nelson Ruffels
Lunny Brannagan
Maguire Henry O'Dowda
Roofe

Surprised at Wright ousting Dunkley in a lot of these teams.

Eastwood

Baldock - Dunkley - Nelson - Ruffels

Brannagan - Lundstram - Leven

Whyte - Roofe - Johnson

A'int noone in league 1 winning against that team yo.

Didn't super Kev play at right back?

Eastwood
Baldock - Nelson - Dunkley - Ricardinho
Lundstram - Ledson - Brannagan
Whyte - Roofe - Johnson

Subs: Clarke, Ruffels, Wright, Henry, Maguire, Hylton, O'Dowda.

Eastwood
McMahon Nelson Mousinho Garbutt
Hanson Carruthers
Hall Browne Holmes
Mackie

Subs: Mitchell, Norman, Dickie, Brannagan, Baptiste, Whyte, Smith.

Oh... hang on... my mistake.

Because Jake Wright basically played for us for two thirds of the decade, and had as big an impact on the club as anyone.

His first appearance was in January 2010, and then he left us in the summer of 2016 after 280 appearances (most of them as captain; 99% of which were good) and two promotions.

Team of the Decade can't just be about ability, it also has to bring longevity and general club legend status into account.
And compared to Jake Wright, Dunkley was just a flash in the pan......

And the fact that Jake Wright was so good for so long without ever scoring a goal only adds to the legend!

Dunks was a very raw player when we signed him and I remember several times players wouldn’t pass back or across to him as he wasn’t up to league 2 pace and control.

Fair play to him for getting through that and taking a move to a championship team where he gets regular game time and scores a few goals from set pieces.

Can’t argue with either of those points. I based my team on the best players playing at their best (in yellow).
