Stick or Twist?

Both Thomas and Obika are unlikely to feature against the Gas after respectively picking up injuries yesterday

Question is who will play up front this coming Saturday? ...... Does Faz, (or whoever is the incoming replacement for Clotet) stick (with a buoyant winning side) or twist (as in change a team that won with grit, determination and never say die belief to accommodate a striker, or two) ?

That’s this weeks £64,000 question.

I think we need a striker of some sorts, but please not GVK or Memheti (sp) but who I hear you ask?

Don’t know.

It will depend a bit on how Bristol Rovers set up I guess and how they cope with pace. The same formation can be kept even if height is wanted by putting in Mehmeti but I hope he starts with Napa.

Mehmeti has hardly been fit so we don't really know what he is like so too early to write off so who knows he could be the answer.

Would be foolish not to have at least one of them on the bench, yesterday I thought Napa & IBR caused the Charlton defenders all sorts of problems, but the Gas might be whole different situation. I would think Mehmeti would be a better option than GvK If we have to choose who should be on the bench.

I have heard Anthony Stokes is a free agent, and aged 29 so isn't that old. Decent goal return in Scotland. However has just had his contract terminated for breach of discipline whilst at hibs. Could be an option depending on the injuries sustained by Wes and Obika?

Not under any circumstances. If we take him on, let’s sign Nile Ranger at the same time.....

Apparently he was on his final warning and then alledgedly he chased some of his teammates around a hotel before an away game. I don't know if it was a for joke or because he was angry at them.

On the flip side if Mehmeti or GvK had been on the bench would Napa have ever got on.... Not broke = don't fix it. We scored 3 with no striker - keep it up if first choices Obika and Thomas aren't available.

If they’re both unfit, I think Napa deserves to keep his place in the side. I’d like to see a lineup of:

Eastwood
Kane Martin Mousinho Smith-Brown
IBR Brannagan (if fit) Ledson Ricardinho
Rothwell
Napa

If it doesn’t work then at least we’d have the likes of Mowatt, Henry, Mehmeti, GvK (if for his pace only) on the bench.

Once we lost the lone striker, we stopped trying to play to a target man that struggles to effectively hold the ball up. That was the catalyst for changing our tactics and getting wide.

I don't mind how we play, I just hate how often our players have the ball and are facing our own goal. So more of Napa, I-BR and Rothwell, who are at least quick to turn with the ball.

Branagan and rothwell are similar apparently, I can’t see u can drop ruffels, he got an assist and played very well along side lego staying back when he went forward and vice versa

And Ruffels has a left foot so balances the midfield well.
IBR Ledson Ruffels Riccy across the middle looks pacy and exciting

Not saying change the starting lineup, just have another option on the bench. Lets be honest how often with Pep did we seem to have a plan B? I can't remember one home or away.

From what I’ve read of Brannagan, I had him in mind as more of a box to box type midfielder rather than an attacking one (which is how i see Rothwell).

I think with Ruffels and Ledson playing together in a two, we lack someone in the middle that wants to get hold of the ball and control a game. Sometimes it works, but quite often this leads to us knocking it along the defensive and struggling to get the ball forward.

I think both Ledson and Ruffels have some excellent qualities, but playing them both in a two has certainly hampered us at times this season. So, harsh thought it may seem, I would like to see one or the other (my preference would be Ledson) alongside more of a ball playing cm.
