He can't chuck out the voters though...not yet anyway....

Raab had a 24,000 vote majority at the last election. His part of Surrey couldn't be any deeper blue.

If seats like that come into play because the Brexit/Remain lines are drawn so hard and fast - then an October 14th election could completely redraw the UK political map...…..

hence 'the untouchable'

Philip Lee was deselected at a meeting in Bracknell almost a month ago. He’s only chosen now to defect to apply pressure on the PM. Come the election he will be gone

playing to the TV cameras methinks?

No surprise on Philip Lee - I saw an interview with him the other week and his point of view was very clear. Although I do wonder if he has changed as much as his old party has, but it's a moot point.

Anyone fancy a General Election? I don't see Brexit being solved in this parliamentary cycle without one - it's too entrenched and it's ripping the country apart. The Corbyn bill is a sham surrender to the EU and a big middle finger to those who voted to leave. It arrogantly assumes the EU even want to extend Article 50 again - why would they? It deliberately forces the worst negotiating position on Article 50.

Game on m'fers. This is not over and sadly, the real fight is on over 3 years later. I hope Remainers don't complain if things get even more rancorous. People like me are not letting this go.

Clearly you deal in the "futures". One or two share tips would come in handy
Perhaps he listened to all the remainer "experts" that predicted a stock market crash, house price crash, worthless pensions, emergency budget and sterling price crash? I guess the law of averages would suggest they got something correct.

I dont claim to be a currency expert but when I needed some euros and the pound was worth 1.40 euros I took the opportunity to buy 2.5k worth, amazing how the remainers moan about a falling pound yet its them that told us all it would happen, perhaps they didnt believe themselves?

Perhaps I am missing something but these MP's that want another extension, what are they going to do if the EU say "no"?

The EU won't say no I think as it gives Johnson the open goal of being able to blame them and he is looking for any excuse.

Also, is it only Remainers moaning about the fall in the £. Talk me through your evidence for this?

Neither side is letting this go - which is why a General Election, which will basically serve as a de facto second referendum, is the only way to resolve this mess. The current parliament is way too divided to resolve this themselves - but our democracy relies on them doing so.

So then either BoJo (with support from Nige) wins, and No Deal Brexit is what we get. Polling suggests this is most likely.
Or BoJo loses, and an alternate government forms which either revokes Article 50 outright, or renegotiates the deal to be as soft as can be (depending on the precise make-up of that government).
Either way, the people have had a chance to see what the issues really are over the course of the past three years, and can cast their vote accordingly.

Course the worst case scenario is that an election simply moves the deckchairs around - a few more Lib Dem MPs in London, some Brexit party MPs and the occasional Tory in the North - but the overall maths comes back relatively unchanged and an even split.
In that circumstance, a GE will solve nothing.....but I still think it's an approach that has to be tried

Rubbish, why would they care what Borris says? The only reason they wont say no is because they are s**t scared of the outcome.

I didnt realise I needed evidence to post on here, best close the thread down then.

I suggest you try reading this:

And the EU being s**t scared of the outcome, hahahaha, I can only assume you're still in sunlit uplands territory and expect the German carmakers to save us. The EU have prepared for a no deal scenario and any impact with be far less than for us.

When you make such claims, yes you need to back them up.

Bullies dont win

What do those who voted against the Government want? The same MP's who voted against a deal. Now they vote against No deal.

Let's have the election. Let's see how the public view the options.

Bloody hell, the Tories have gone and removed the whip from all of the 21 rebels - including Ken Clarke, who's been a Tory MP for 49 years, and Philip Hammond, who was freakin' Chancellor a month ago.

As has been pointed out, BoJo started the day with 311 MPs and a majority of 1.....because of these expulsions, he's finished the day with 289 MPs.

(as has also been pointed out, JRM voted against the wishes of his government more than 100 times in the past nine years - and rather than being similarly expelled, he's now Leader of the House)

Impossible to imagine that we don't have an election now.
When there's no chance of anyone forming a working government - and there isn't right now - then Britain needs a new parliament.
