EFL R.I.P Bury

Remember a 9 goal Manor thriller back in the Seventies. They will be back.

Considering the horrific company structure and historic debt, it could be better in the long term for them to start with a clean slate again. Still pretty blody awful for the fans to deal with - no real comfort in the short or medium term.

Former (twice) FA cup winners... and given their location , Bury supporters have chosen to support Bury over and above 'bigger' clubs close by.... shame on both EFL and FA for allowing things to reach where they have

lets hope they can reform and play at gigg lane still

This is just so sad to see, football gives it's fans a great sense of identity and belonging and I would be heartbroken if that was ripped away from me. Football clubs provide a great source of pride and hope for their communities and the general feeling of a town or city is defined by the fortunes of their team. I don't think there is anything else that could fill the void for the people of Bury. The EFL have not come out of this with much credit and they must ensure that those wanting to be in charge of football clubs are fit and proper and have the resources to do so. There does seem to be some new hope for Bury FC, so I hope there is some way back for them.

Apparently the FSA is encouraging all Football League clubs to have a minute's applause in the 27th minute of their games this weekend, in solidarity with Bury.

(because on 27th August a football club was expelled from the league for the first time in 27 years).

Interesting to see if they get anywhere with that.

Surely any half decent sports lawyer would be able to run rings around the EFL.

any young toddler should be able to run rings around that useless shower laughingly 'running' the EFL

So apparently someone / some group made a ÂŁ7 million bid for the club BEFORE the expulsion happened. The EFL were aware of it but are now refusing to even contemplate readmitting Bury to the league under this potential new ownership.

The detail of this still needs to be understood. Was there a viable bid in time to stop expulsion? Were the EFL aware of it? If so, why didn't they consider a temporary 'kicking of the can'?
Where have they been for the last 3 months though? Why leave it until its too late?

I actually cant blame the EFL on expelling Bury. They have has what 3 deadlines? They have yet to play a game and the longer it goes on the more ridiculous it all is.
The deadline should have been a month before the season started.
As for Bolton. Playing youth teams fir their games so far. Players will come in over the next few days and even if they will not be a particularly good team it is not fair on the teams het to play Bolton.

That is the question, especially as they were supposed to have made the bid 40 minutes before the deadline. They hadn't done any due diligence etc, etc so an extension would have been required, of whatever length. And we know how the previous bid pulled out as soon as they started looking just a bit closer when doing due diligence, so unless they were chancers the same was likely to happen.

The BBC news at 10 item on Bury specifically mentioned OUFC as one of the teams that had to fight winding up orders in the precarious football financial world.

Almost the unseen impact. His comments about the finances shows the dodgy nature of the last 2 owners.

We were also singled out on TalkSport the other day, alongside Macclesfield, as one of the potential next to go clubs if this trend of financial turmoil continues in the lower leagues.

Last season certainly did us no favours what so ever in terms of our reputation. I really hope we don’t have any more shenanigans this season.

Yes - we also featured on R5L a couple of nights ago for the same reason. Tiger is currently in favour but lest we forget........
