Away Match Day Thread +++ 17/08/2019 L1: Blackpool v OUFC +++

I will bet my last quid we finish higher than them this season we killed them but no strikers have killed us this time come on kr this season could be special but we need that last piece of the jigsaw

I’d consider putting money on them to go up! Luckiest team in the league so far as have been out shot in all three games but somehow have won all 3.
Or bet on them to get relegated cos there lucks gotta run out soon.

So we ripped them a new asshole. Just wait until we have strikers ready for action.

I think we played M.orecome a few years ago and had over 25 shots, their keeper had a worldy, they had 2 forays into our half and we lost 0-1.

Was that was around this time of the year? Perhaps 2014 start of the Appleton days? Ellison scored a ridiculously offside goal that stood if I’m thinking of the same game

Insanely frustrating, but you'll get a couple of games like that a season.

Done in by a combination of:
a) Bad finishing
b) Crap refereeing
c) Bad luck, and
d) To be fair to them, some excellent last ditch defending at times from Blackpool. They were useless up front and in the middle of the park, but some of their blocks and clearances were outstanding.

Better to lose that way early in the season that be thoroughly outclassed.

Just need to put it behind us, sign a new striker and go again on Tuesday.

Shame we only have 4 points from the opening 9 as we should probably have all of them, suppose it shows what we all, including Robinson, know. We just need some extra firepower in the final third to turn all this possession and chances into the goals to get us up there this season. While we are waiting for these extra players we need to not fall to far behind, 3 points on Tuesday will help with that.

You’re only ever as good as your strikers, generally. Get that number nine shirt filled ASAP and get Agyei up to speed and it could get interesting. We’re just missing that yard of pace and that extra mobility up top.

Lots of people saying that KR is meeting a player tonight at the training ground. I thought I heard him say he was hoping to meet a player tonight and it depended on whether that player's club would allow it?? Mind you, having watched the game, I was still in a daze!

Hi all, first post on here.

Am I the only one that didn't think it was too bad? Mackie was always in the right place but the amount of times he had a player's arms wrapped around him or fouling him it'd be hard to get a goal in. If anything we need to get that Cadden lad confident enough to make progress up the wing, he's got fantastic pace but he always stopped short and tried to find a pass into the congested midfield instead of carrying on up and causing a threat like Ruffles was. Dickie played fantastically with Mousinho and Brannagan's really improved from the games I saw last year.

Just bad luck we didn't get a few more in, amazed the Blackpool #16 and #21 didn't get reds.

EDIT: Oh and Woodburn needs to improve his game but he's new so I'm hoping he'll come good once he's settled in.

That’s 22 pages on a match day thread and yes we lost. We’ve had long threads before because we’ve lost...........
But this must be one of the first threads that we’ve lost that has been so positive about the game even though we lost. This has to be a good thing.

Oh also another thing is the crossing and corners were pretty awful, most of them went way past the goal and the rest went straight at a Blackpool defender. Could probably do with some work?

Prepared to say we are really on to something.
We are almost there as regards the squad.
Just that finisher in the door and we are going places.
Whoever that striker turns out to be, he had better be ready to convert the bucket loads of chances that will come his way from a side rich in talent.
If ever there was an opportunity for an ambitious striker to make a name for himself, it is right here, right now.

Footballs weird. I had a look at the stats from the lincoln 4-0 southend game and they are pretty even. Compare that to our match stats and we lose. Its a funny ol game! We still need a pacy winger imo, even if it is someone to bring off the bench when legs are tiring. Hall doesnt have the x-factor as of yet.

Lack of cutting edge cost us. And that will continue to happen. It needs sorting now.
If Robinson is meeting a decent striker tonight all he needs to do is show him the dvd of today’s match and say ‘we want you to be the spearhead for this team’. The first thing the striker in question will do is go straight home and clear a space on his mantelpiece for the golden boot award!
