Good thing Britain is well prepared for this, and isn't just sitting down to prepare for this seriously for the first time today. Wait, what?

Work (NHS) have been planning for 3 years or so, just got the "express courier" solution to find. Surprisingly pretty much everything , barring logistics, stays the same until we are told otherwise.

They aren't with transplant meds as Haematology have already been warned supplies may be an issue with no deal.

Hence the mention of the express courier solution for time critical.
Procurement/purchasing remains the same tendering/OJEU process until HMG decide otherwise.
EU Staff have been reassured they are secure in their employment.

When it comes to bloods there is more danger of products going to China outstripping demand in the UK/EU than anything else.
Plasma Resources UK (the old BTS) was sold by Bain Capital to Creat (China) for a nice £490 million profit but is still 20% owned by HMG.

Reality is nobody actually knows the outcome, folk can "warn" all they like depending on their viewpoint.

It was a drug, not blood products that they were warned about and it isn't about the express courier solution from what the Haematology Doctor said to me the other week.

Get that, some stuff (radiotherapy mostly) can`t afford any delay. And I can`t think of a valid reason for such things to get delayed.
Hope it doesn`t impact on you/patients etc. (y)

A fantastic piece of sexism and racism by Caroline Lucas. She'd be at the front line of complaints if Nigel Farage said leave it to the white men to get on with it.

And yes, she seems deadly serious about it too. What a time to be alive!

It's heartening to see Lucas is doubling on her bigotry today. She really believes that excluding all men (regardless of ethnicity), 17.4 million leave voters, and all non-white people is ok. Regardless of what I think of Diane Abbott, she is the most senior female member of the shadow govt, so her exclusion can only be down to her race? Or is it purely the wafer thin ideological difference between them both.

Most odd. It looks like a coalition of middle class white women.

Though to be honest, Caroline Lucas is not exactly someone who's in a position of power. Yes, it was a dumb and bigoted thing to say, but does it really matter any more than whatever dumb and bigoted statement next comes out of the mouth of whoever UKIP's current leader is?

Yes, the Greens got about half a million votes at the last election, but that was only 1.6% of the electorate, and less than a post-Farage UKIP.

She's only an MP because Brighton Pavilion has an extra-specially high concentration of tree huggers.

She is trying to position herself on a cabinet of people to run the country as a "government of unity" (over a democratic process - no matter how flawed it may have been), so yeah, it does matter. It's not at the level of someone organising who does what on the school PTA, what she is proposing could affect the short and long term future of the country. It's also astonishingly arrogant. And as a protest vote, the Greens are on the up and up at the moment due to Labours failures and the environment being a priority for some.

And there is just the sense of irony of someone so woke and right on showing an incredible amount of prejudice & bigotry and not really understanding what the issue is with what they said - it's Prince Philip territory. Let's face it, we all expect a leader of UKIP to do and say some incredibly daft things because that is what they are and in recent times, they lack any intelligence, not so much a far leftie like Lucas, in such an overt manner.

Hard left and hard right are essentially the same thing at their core. Full of bigotry, discrimination and fuelled by an unwillingness to accept people who are different to themselves.

An interesting bit of Parliamentary "small print"........

"European Union (Withdrawal) Act 2018 so that any regulations that change “exit day” will no longer require approval by both Houses under the draft affirmative procedure. "

Just saying...

No it couldn't, because she's a niche politician that has no power; and the only people that pay her more than lip service are the voters on the far left - whose numbers may be growing, but are still insignificant.

Actually, I'm kind of surprised that someone with your political leanings would not expect a far leftie like Lucas to say dumb things.
I'd put myself pretty central, maybe slightly left of center (in British terms - I'm way left in the US!) and I certainly expect people to the far left of me to talk impractical nonsense.

As we see elsewhere, those little ideas or lip services start to gain traction and become far bigger thing as they percolate to supporters. Lucas got it wrong, but the idea of a national govt of unity keeps coming up as an alternative from many left wing and centre right parties, but no one wants to take the lead on it. The message was wrong, but the idea got a nice airing too. Sadly the politicians have spent little time on what next if it happens, and they have no realistic time to coalesce it.

I expect her to say dumb things on policy and she does, but I'm surprised she said something so bigoted when she plays the delicate flower persona so well. The mask really slipped.
