AFC Wimbledon

Understandable what they did.
yup ...albeit petty, very understandable. If OUFC had had the same shitty imposition happen to us in the past, I reckon there'd already be fundraising activities in place , by the fanbase, to help pay off the fine.

Both the FA and FL should never have sanctioned the franchise way back, maybe Shaun Harvey and Ian Lenagan should both take a look at what their predecessors wrongly (IMO) did and take those erroneous decisions into consideration before casting judgement on AFC Wimbledon

And while we're on the subject of the franchise, MK need to fuckrightoff out of OXFORDshire, attempting to poach potential OUFC fans in the Thame area via an OXFORDshire local paper, if OUFC had a marketing department of note they would already have taken ads out in the local newspapers in Buckingham, Bletchley, Towcester for OUFC matches and half season tickets for starters

Such a bitter little club aren't they?

If OUFC had be treated the same contemptuous way by the FA and FL ....OUFC would have similar grounds for being bitter I'd say.

that said, most AFC Wombles fans I've come into contact with tend to be well balanced, with a chip on each shoulder

Always feel they deserve respect for taking care of Lord Jack after we foolishly let him go.

There is a point where you need to just let it go and concentrate on the future of your club. They have so much to look forward to with a new ground being built, but get caught up in petty BS that serves no real purpose other than a few sad sacks feeling better.

Iirc, the authorities had nothing in their rules stopping what Winkelmann did and if they hadn't accepted it, then it would have happened through legal action. They then changed the rules to stop this happening again.

Still utterly petty by Wimbledon. The FL turned a blind eye last year but to persist doing it, the FL had no choice but to react. Wimbledon should have accepted they got a free pass last year and left the pettiness there.

thing with many football rivalries is that they dont make much sense to anyone who isnt in anyway involved.

As Oxford United supporters we have a hatred of Sw*nd*n T*wn fc who are localish to Oxford

There is also a deep intense hatred of Leyton Orient, from some OUFC supporters, for the actions of their then Chairman and supporters
on arguably the darkest day in the history of OUFC.

Has it ,in your opinion Gary B, reached the point where OUFC fans should let our hatred of Sw*nd*n T*wown fc 'go' , should those who hold a deep intense hatred of Leyton Orient also 'let it go'?;)

It IS petty Marked Ox , I agree..... and at the time there was nothing in the rules of both governing bodies to stop Winkleman obtaining his franchise, though the ruling committees COULD have changed the rules to stop it before it happened. Like life itself, small gets fuckedover by big, AFC ARE being petty, but, its the only option they have to not let Shaun Harvey & his henchmen at the EFL forget isn't it? ;)

I understand the animosity from Wimbledon. There will never be a mutual friendship or even a begrudging respect between the two clubs so they’re fully entitled to continue their rivalry.

However, what exactly are they achieving by not printing MK Dons name in full? What moral victory have they achieved? As far as I can tell MK Dons are still called MK Dons and Wimbledon are still called Wimbledon and nicknamed the Wombles and/or the Dons. Being so deliberately provocative isn’t achieving anything and aside from burning the Stadium: MK down, AFC Wimbledon’s best bet is to hope that eventually the powers behind MK Dons get bored and the club plummets out of existence. I don’t there would be too many tears if that occurred.

Not at all. But as a football club, it's right for us to call Swindon Town, their proper name when they visit. And for club officials and associated hangers on to treat whoever is playing, managing or owning them with a common courtesy and professional respect. AFC seem to misunderstand that boundary, both at the MK Dons and people like Karl Robinson. It's the sort of ish that should be left a long way down in the non-league pyramid.

As fans we can hate and call Swindon the scummy inbreds or six fingered inbreds. Not appropriate for OUFC as a club to be seen to do that. Or any club, even ones like Man City and Man U, or Rangers and Celtic

Should probably extend that to calling the stadium by its name rather than Grenoble Rd

I know all this subject has been covered many times before, but I feel no sympathy for AFC for harbouring petty bitterness which is of no benefit to their club.

There is no point saying 'what if this happened to OUFC'? OUFC would never (and were never) in the position of attracting 3,000 home fans to matches in the top flight. Nobody was interested in supporting the the old Wimbledon. When they scored against Liverpool in the FA Cup Final there was hardly a murmur from the terraces. The notion that a generation of Wimbledon fans were deprived of their club may be true, but there weren't many of them.

I didn't like the franchise concept, but AFC fans should take solace from the fact that the MK Dons experiment has failed. The youth of MK are not, after all, flocking to see the Dons. Attendances are false, official figures bolstered by cheap season ticket sales to people who never go to matches.

I felt sorry for the (few) Wimbledon fans at the time, but AFC fans should now just get on with supporting their club, the officials of which should grow up and move on.

Agreed....and fair enough GB

I do, for better or worse. It's hard to explain to non-football fans about Grenoble Road without sounding a little bitter... Enough people Kassam wrongly that it's enough for me :p
