Wall of silence

Is anyone else finding it a bit odd. It’s been 5 days since Pep’s sacking and apart from the initial brief statement on Monday morning there has been a complete wall of silence. Even Faz’s interview after the Chelsea game was very guarded. I’ve also noticed that players/staff have been unusually very quiet on Twitter as if they’ve been told to refrain from tweeting about anything. None of the players/staff liked or acknowledged Pep’s tweet, which I find unusual too.

There definitely seems to be more than meets the eye with this sacking and lack of any comment in the aftermath. I feel us fans are being kept in the dark about something.

It’s starting to feel very frustrating as a fan with so little communication coming from the club. I really hope they bring us some news soon as this silence is deafening!

Is it a take over coming? We need some players in, a few could go out, I agree it’s very odd after 5 days. Why sack him if no manager is coming in it’s near the end of the transfer window and look at that defender that was going to sign in the summer now looking to move for 6 million

DE was in a no-win situation. Yep he’s sacked the manager at a very difficult time but what was the alternative? Keeping Pep in charge and allowing him to sign more ‘experienced’ journeymen from Mr Angry’s agency? Fair to say the silence is strange though but then it was strange when Pep arrived, no board members at the welcoming press conference has still yet to be explained.

Tbf the club had no control over the Liam Lindsay situation. They had the guy in the club but MApp choosing to leave that day put a stopper to it.

Hard call as that was on the back of 2 wins and 2 draws. I think the sacking had more to do with a disagreement on the transfers than the actual results

Not sure why go look and bid for a player 2 weeks ago?

My guess (and it is only a guess) is that up until the Bury game Pep position was fairly secure.

But something has happened off the pitch to trigger the dismissal of the manager.

Just my impression, but it doesn’t feel as if the board were planning this.

I have to agree with the OP.

The website post saying Clotet had gone could not have been much shorter or less informative. There has been literally no other communication from the club about it or about the search for a new manager except for Faz's obligatory post match interview at Chelsea, which was was very odd indeed IMO! Is he really allowed to sign players with Eales out of the country - very bizarre if true. (If Clotet was sacked because he wanted to bring in more of the same type of player he brought in over the summer then (frankly) good riddance - but who knows.)

At the moment, I am feeling that I am a not particularly valued customer of a struggling and uncommunicative small company rather than being part of any 'OUFC family'.

In my view the Wigan debacle was the nadir, the culmination of six months of mismanagement, poor signings,
terrible performances leading to fans becoming increasingly disaffected and detached from their club.
The Port Vale and Cheltenham defeats were warning signs and Wigan should have been
the tipping point. We lost 0-7 at home !

Furthermore, looking at the tweets from Pep’s dodgy agent and them referring to Faz as an idiot suggest all was not well between him and Pep and I know of one member of staff who referred to Pep in a very uncomplimentary way a few months back. Another thing I have noticed through Twitter, is the foreign players like Ivo and GVK do not follow any of our English players and vice versa.

Also thinking back to Josh Ruffels moaning on RO about DT’s passback v Bury, you could tell Ruffels didn’t seem too impressed with him. I doubt he’d have berated it publicly if it was Ledson who had made that pass. Despite what Pep kept saying about the togetherness of the players, I think there is a big divide and it seems like cliques have formed and that’s not good in a football environment.

Much as I would like to know everything going on I suspect there is a reason nothing is being communicated from the club. I think the reason is DE is doing a deal for a takeover or fellow investor/s and a manager is coming in at the same time and NDA is in place so nothing being said

What do you mean coming, it's already happened.

They don't want it known so that if we're bidding for players the price isn't hiked up etc.

This next week will be very telling.

Takeover/Investment is to be announced in early Feb so perhaps we will announce the manager on the same day
