International News Donald Trump ๐ŸŠ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

Give him respect. The USA is a long standing friend. Just because anyone disagrees with his policies doesnโ€™t mean that we should insult him with balloons and take positions like Khan does. When we leave the EU we will need them as a trading partner.

Maybe he should try showing respect to other people first and not come out with utter garbage like no go zones in Birmingham etc.

In charge of, and co ordinating, uk 'security' for trumps visit are .. .. TVP

No respect from me either. He is a buffoon. A bigoted, sexist egomaniac who seems to think it's a 'strategy' to divide people rather then bring them together. We won't be at 'trading partner' with the US if he has his way, we will be a dumping ground for their cheapest crap at the highest prices. For those who are seeking to extract us from the EU because we are a 'vassal state', consider being a satellite state to the US with this wazzock in charge ...

What does the phrase 'Amerca first' mean to you?

A dangerous basket to be putting our eggs in - for many reasons.

Agree with all those comments about Trump. Iโ€™d say we need all the friends we can get at the moment. America is one of the biggest trading countries in the world and long may it continue whoever is in office.
We have had people over here worse than Trump without too much protest.
We can express our opinions without stooping to the same level of abuse as others

It's wonderful entertainment ain't it? A President of country telling a Mayor of a City he's an idiot, the Mayor calling him a fascist, and the President doubling down on it. If ever there was a case of politicians of all sides needing to think twice and speak once...

Still, it gives lefties in this country something different to moan about for a few days that isn't Brexit and us "horrid gammons" Brexiteers. Twitter will make a fortune, lots of virtues will be signalled, lots of people will skive off work to do some silly protesting and drop a ton of litter, and then the stark reality of Brexit will rear it's head again.

Welcome President Trump. Your mere existence gives me some light relief entertainment that isn't easy to find in these times.

Absolutely not! He deserves disdain and rejection and trading off the 'special relationship' history, has to be earned and not assumed. He stands for everything that is atrocious in politics and human rights.

Doubt if the orange one will be 'offered' to share a milkshake

I find Trump anything but 'light relief'. Quite frankly, if he was a smidge more competent he would be frightening and he is a symptom of a dangerous swing towards extremism in Western politics.

Anyone care to provide evidence of a "swing towards extremism" rather than taking a pragmatic approach putting one`s own nation first?
Yes he plays hard ball with some folk but, sometimes, that is the only language they understand.
I haven`t noticed any wars starting or nukes being thrown around on his watch.
US GDP is around 4.2%.
US Unemployment 3.7%.
2.9% rise in average hourly pay rates.
56% Approval rating for his policies.

Take away the sound bites & tweets and its a decent job being done it seems.

The challenges to Roe and Wade via extreme Abortion laws, Trump undermining his own security forces and trying to bypass the various checks and balances built in to the American political system, Trump openly targeting groups of people because of their religion with his travel ban etc, etc.

OR you could look at Fact Check.org which shows a more mixed bag:

Employment growth slowed by 12 percent. Nevertheless, the unemployment rate kept dropping, reaching a 17-year low. The number of job vacancies rose, also to a nearly 17-year record.
Economic growth picked up to a 3.2 percent annual rate in the July-September quarter from 1.5 percent for all of 2016.
The number of people caught trying to cross the border with Mexico fell by nearly half.
The number of refugee admissions fell by 70 percent.
Restrictions in the federal regulatory rulebook continued to grow, but at less than half the pace during the two previous administrations.
The number of coal mining jobs, which Trump promised to bring back, went up by only 500. Manufacturing jobs grew just a bit faster than total employment.
Real weekly wages rose 1.1 percent. Corporate profits and stock prices hit new records.
The number of people without health insurance went up โ€” by 200,000 according to a government survey, and by 3.2 million according to a more recent Gallup poll.
The U.S. trade deficit that Trump promised to bring down grew instead, getting 11.5 percent larger.
The number of people on food stamps, which Trump wants to cut, grew by nearly 3 million.
The federal debt rose nearly 3 percent; projected annual deficits worsened.
Trump won confirmation for a dozen federal appeals court judges โ€” quadruple the number Obama put on the bench during his first year.
The U.S. image abroad took a hit. The number of foreigners telling pollsters they have a favorable view of the USA fell nearly everywhere. The only big gain was in Russia.

He has also decimated Environmental protection laws whilst simultaneously stripping the relevant federal authorities of staff to deal with what is left and put people in charge who wanted environmental laws seriously downgraded.
