Wilder picks up manager of the year award

Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder has been named LMA manager of the year and Championship manager of the year at the annual awards in London.

Although the fact Chris Wilder won has been covered on another thread, I think it's odd that Mick Harford won for League 1 as he was only in charge since January and inherited a team that was already second in the league.

Tbf to Harford, Luton lost their whole coaching team when Jones left, so had the total disruption of that, yet their successful run continued. Worthy winner for me considering other clubs in similar situations have fallen away in some cases spectacularly.

Also - who else is it going to be?

Barnsley came down with one of the best squads in the division; Sunderland underperformed; The other playoff teams are probably some of the bigger clubs in the division and their performances were likely in line with their budgets.

There wasn't a team this year that dramatically outperformed their budget. You could maybe make an argument for John Coleman getting Accrington to 14th on peanuts.....but they did only get 55 points.

Manager of the Champions seems fair enough in that context, even if he was only there for half a year.

Quite a few clubs are going up more than once. Will be interesting to see how they perform next year.
