Chris Wilder

If Wilder got sacked by Sheff U at Christmas he would be on more money at big championship club by the next week so high is his stock at the moment, so it’s hardly a disaster if it happens.

I have a feeling he will keep them up, backs against the wall, world against us is Lord Chippys at his best in management anyway, he will be fine for the first season but after that it gets trickier, realistically where can a club like Sheffield United go from there?

Wilder isn’t stupid. He will leave before he gets pushed if things are going badly.
He will have to spend a fair wack on players if he is to get them to stay up next season.
They either back him properly in which case he has half a chance or they half back him - more likely, in which case if they go down it isn't disasterous if they look to do a Burnley.
He must have an awful lot of credit built up after 2 Promotions and it being his home club.

I don't think you're in a small minority! I still feel very nostalgic about the 'wilderness years', which doesn't mean I'd swap our current position for tier five again.

I think we felt a mix of anticipation at visiting new grounds and new towns (some without mainline stations) and, let's face it, the rather arrogant feeling that we wouldn't be there for long.

Strange first season. I think we were unbeaten in our first 17 games but it felt like a false position as our team was not that great and our performances often lack lustre.

Still enjoyable going to places like Stafford and Histon and Salisbury, often outnumbering home fans and feeling like the big boys in a small pond.
I think that should be "big fish"!!

Wilders pretty good at picking up the best talent from leagues below so would presume he will be championship shopping this summer.

What Wilder has done in the past is irrelevant. His past history of getting promotions is exactly that, history and counts for nothing. Well done for getting Sheffield Utd up on a fairly modest budget for that league this season.

I think he will be gone by Christmas.

Nasty piece of work you are ??

In all seriousness that’s a load of hog wash, his CV is outstanding and he deserves credit, he’s got one hell of a record now.

They should of asked mark creighton for his view of Wilder...

I'm really pleased for Wilder and I hope the Blades aren't stupid enough to sack him if they're in trouble by Christmas.

One thing that confused me about the interview with Constable is that he said we were in danger of dropping out of the league when Wilder took over. But we were already a non-league team. Unless he meant dropping out of the conference.

That’s pretty churlish

Quite happy to say that his achievement is extraordinary, however, he is a classless A*****e who cannot stop spewing barbed, snide comments about us.
I really hope he crashes and burns in the premiership if only to see him snort a large gulp of humility.

What has he said about us since leaving? I’m not being antagonistic, just haven’t seen anything so would be interested in reading what he has said.

The only specific thing he did which annoyed me somewhat after leaving was the post-game chest thumping on the pitch after the Blades best us last season which seemed really unnecessary and ridiculous.

Would be interested in reading any comments however as, as far as I was aware, he rarely if ever refers to us.

If Sheffield United are sensible, then Chris Wilder should be the next Sean Dyche. He should be entirely bullet-proof next season, even if they do struggle to compete, and should be given the chance to build something more sustainable with the Premier League riches.

Sounds like Cardiff are likely to also extend this same courtesy to Warnock.

But if they're desperate morons, then they'll waste tens of millions on overrated players this summer and then sack him in October. A bit like Fulham did this year.

Totally agree.
Assuming Sheffield United even do a Cardiff, they should stick with him and allow him to build like Burnley did.
He must have such credit in the bank that in my view they would have to disastrously to sack him.

Only a couple of weeks ago he alluded to being champions is the only thing. It struck me at the time that he was still referring back to the Northampton jibe. The way he said it was telling.

Who would have thought that out of Apps and Wilder after we both went up that a few years later Wilder would be leading a club to the premiership while Apps would be a coach only
