Browne

If I may overanalyse, he was also waving (rather than clapping) and walking out last during the lap of honour today.

Realistically we aren’t going to see him next season & I’d be disappointed to see him in this league with anyone else he’s got championship abilities but not consistent enough we saw today the best of him again like we saw before Christmas.

January did turn his head I think with a lot of interest from the championship & we didn’t see the same form from him but overall he contributed to number of goals double figures which is impressive so I thank him for that & wish him well next season

In fairness there will be lots of discussions with Browne and his advisors this summer and I wouldn't expect him to commit to anything right now. West Ham will be pleased with his progress this year but will also see that he's a long way off PL standard. They may likely want to see him tested at a higher level but will know that this could limit the number of games he gets. If he stays in league 1 then we will likely be at the top of the list of clubs in the running for him (except maybe Sunderland/Portsmouth/Charlton depending on who misses out on the playoffs). He is well regarded at West Ham so they are maybe unlikely to offer him for sale at a price we can afford, but you never know what is on the cards now that Erick is in town.

Either way, thanks Marcus for a decent (if maybe not as great as it could have been) season and good luck with your next career move.

I hope he goes on to great things.
Thanks Marcus, you did us proud.

He definitely put the yards in. Walking yellow most of the time, but he’ll learn. And clearly was a passionate member of the squad. Good luck lad.

Blew hot and cold, on his day he was absolutely unplayable. Those days came too seldom though.
That said, he represented the club well and always appeared to give his all.
I feel we are a stepping stone to bigger things. Championship for him next season easy.

It’s worth remembering that when Browne came on as a sub in our 2-0 defeat to Fleetwood all those months back, it was only his sixth ever appearance in men’s football. A few token EFL Trophy matches for West Ham U23s, an FA Cup appearance for Wigan and a Europa League cameo for West Ham’s senior side, he’d not played any senior football at all. A full season was therefore going to be big learning curve. I think some of the pointing out of his flaws is justified. He’s far from the finished article but has done remarkably well for a first full season as a pro.

We give leniency to our own home grown players when they’re making their debut seasons and appearances and is only fair we do that to Browne too. Just because he’s from a PL side it doesn’t mean he’s never going to make mistakes. He’s learning and will certainly improve. What I like about him and it’ll hold him in good stead for a long career is his attitude. No sense of entitlement that he’s above this level and he’s been willing to work hard in often trying circumstances. Yes, he’s self confident and looked to do it all himself at times (same with Graham) but I think he’s settled well with the squad.

Got to wish the guy well wherever he ends up (except Swindon of course!).

He has a far better "attitude" than Graham. I think we will see him here again next season.

Did Graham really have an "attitude"?

He gave it all when selected from what I've seen and didn't appear to complain about being on the bench or when not selected. His social media seems pretty positive about the club as well from the limited amount I've seen.

I’ve been thinking this! Really not sure where the ‘Graham has a bad attitude’ narrative has sprung from. Also if we’re going to (rightly) allow Browne some slack for it being his first full professional system, we should also recognise that Graham’s drop off in performances can almost certainly be attributed to this being the most games he has played in a 4 month period in perhaps his career to date? Certainly at least since he first left us. The guy’s enthusiasm has shown the heart is there but perhaps not the legs.

I think it may have come about due to Graham’s less telling performances recently.

I don’t think it’s attitude per se. Maybe a bit of ‘nothing to play for’ but probably down to a slight dip in form and perhaps fatigue at so much football after such a long lay off. His attitude, on and off the field, prior to us securing safety wasn’t questioned.

Signing Browne, you would think, would be not only be a great signing but also a great investment.

The one thing not mentioned on this thread is that he was kicked all over the pitch on most of the games he’s played. Not surprising he was off his game some weeks if you get a clout every time you get the ball.
I’d love to have him at the club next season.

His treatment at Sunderland was appalling.

Sunderland targeted him and tried to kick him off the pitch almost.
The worst targeted attack on a player I saw this season at Sunderland (although there were a few more on Whyte and Browne)

As it stands, I think Marcus is factually correct, that Saturday was his last game at the Kassam.

As others state, I suspect he'll be back here next season, under a newer updated agreement.
