Fan's View - Wimbledon at home

Ken Skeen was interviewed in the 1893 club pre-match and mentioned his move to OUFC. Arthur Turner signed him and, although happy at Swin*on, he said that the "family atmosphere" at Oxford made him realise what a good move it was.
I'm not sure he was around when I was first introduced to the Manor but it surprised me when he mentioned Shuker and others who I do remember. Was it really that long ago? Am I really that old? Scary!

You must be at least a hundred and ninety twelve :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Shrewsbury's little climb up the table has coincided with Mitchell playing in goal!
No doubt he will have a blinder on Easter Monday.

One goal conceded in the five games he's played for them. A good keeper but crap in the eyes of some of our supporters just because his name was not Simon Eastwood.

I can only agree with comments re MK Dons - I hate the way they came about, not climbing through the leagues but simply acquiring a club and relocating. Winkelman, the Chairman, has also seems to be a smoke and mirrors type of bloke and the finances always seem somewhat opaque.

However, I also can't join the Wimbledon love-in. Sure, the initial story was great - trials in a park, fan financed and then working their way from a lowly local league. But they now need to move on and stop being so fecking self-righteous. They're in a higher league than MK but still act like non-league fans and much as I'm not Robinson's biggest fan, the abuse is borderline embarrassing. He's a fairly obnoxious character at times but I wonder if they'll give Tisdale the same 'welcome' or Stuart Murdoch, or Martin Allen, or Paul Ince, or Di Matteo? Probably not as he was more successful than they were. He's a football manager with a family to feed not the ogre that 'stole' their club.

The icing on the cake is the football over the past few years. God it's horrible, long-ball, physical, percentage stuff. So poor that Wally Downes is actually winning kudos for playing more football than his predecessors - yep, that bad.

And if that wasn't bad enough, there is the away day experience at Wimbledon, which frankly they've done nothing to address over the last few years. It's impossible for most people to get a decent view in the away side and you're struggling even more if you're small or a child. I won't give them my money again until they move.

RE Ken Skeen..remember him coming to the Manor season 67/68..good player, 214 League appearances.

Ken Skeen would run for 90minutes like a Duracell bunny .....weighed in with a fair amount of goals too.... off field he was a 40 cigs a day smoker !

Mm, just noticed, top banner in t'article refers to Walsall match.

Pedant departs....

Yes. We did play Walsall away the game before this. Click on that and the top banner will be Wycombe at home. And so it goes. Am I missing something. Well actually I have been. I've never noticed these before. :)

He didn’t exactly get a lot of support and backing from his own coaches at the time, either. Poor lad faced a damn near impossible task.
