Laughable that some people want yet another unproven manager? Surely not worth the risk now?

Be Intresting to see how many people would want him here though

Don't really see why we're the only club that seem to be linked with Lampard, would rather have Gerrard, he's got coaching experience at Liverpool and is doing a decent job from what I've seen.

If he was appointed I would obviously back him and it couldn’t be denied that there would be a large element of excitement but I do think we need to look for an experienced manager with extensive knowledge of the lower leagues without him being a ‘dinosaur’. He needs to be progressive with his methods and embrace the model of bringing young talent on. Is the perfect candidate out there?,

I thought we'd had it with unproven coaches and giving people a go ..not on £100k a year plus I don't think.

Why not? He has all his coach8ng qualifications. Fair play wanting to come here. The only reason he wasn’t before was he wanted to be fully qualified. I can see the attraction. Has connections in the game and will want to be a success

Warming to the idea of Lampard, particularly as I can't see Appleton wanting to return after his current taste of the Premiership.
There's a whole cab rank of journeymen managers out there. I'd rather see Lampard than any of them: he'd have the respect of the players and has connections that might prove useful...fresh approach from a bloke keen to prove himself.

The risk of Lampard is that he is the complete unknown. What kind of manager will he be?

To me, he’s always appeared cerebral and worthy of respect due to his ability. He has all the traits of someone who could and should make a good manager. Whether his long career of playing with some of the best in the world can translate to the lower leagues is another matter. Graham Rix is a prime example of a coach so versed in coaching top players that his ideas just went over the heads of lower league fodder like David Woozley and Leo Roget (and that he couldn’t manage in the first place and was a bit of a c**t). Does Lampard have the wherewithal to work with players with ability far below his own level?

Seemingly every fan on here wants the ‘experienced’ option, ie some other club to do the hard work of developing a manager before we nab them. I’m happy with a younger option as they can become a sellable asset like Appleton has been to us. MApp’s experience when coming to us was with basket case clubs that he’d barely had time to put a mark on. With almost unheard of patience, he developed so much as a manager in his first year with us that the second season felt a lot more settled. If Lampard was the choice, we’d have to allow him a few hall passes because he’d certainly make a few errors in his first 12 months with us.

I don't think he is what we need. I'd go for Simon Grayson, he ha a proven record in league one. I also think he might be in a similar position to MApp in that he could do with getting things back on track after being sacked at Sunderland. Not sure if he would come though, although he has turned down MK Dons.

Rather see lampard than a man who has got 4 different teams promoted from this level, or a guy who did very well and followed our exact model at Brentford ?
Or even young managers like Kevin Nolan or Danny cowley who are doing well in their jobs

I’d take lampard over phil brown all day long but that’s not saying a lot

An ambitious mid table league one side learning the ropes with very little pressure in the first 4 months as many expect/ed to finish around mid table..Then allowed to build a team that he requires within the budget with a 2 year plan to reach the championship.

Fair play to Lampard if he is keen to take the job. Not many ex top players would do it the proper way by learning their trade in the lower leagues.

Giggs being the prime example of ex players who think they should just be given a top job due to their name.

I don't buy it. Think this is just because of the summer link and the Sun getting some easy clicks.

Whoever was on that shortlist in the summer will probably be the ones being considered now, we don’t have the time to start interviewing with the window close to closing.
