So 5 clubs have offered Coventry a home. I wonder who?

That 6 mile limit seems to be disappearing rapidly from the FL's conditions. I can't see many Coventry fans being happy. Will they end up back at Northampton or go the other way to somewhere like Birmingham City? And will it be a slow death being stuck away from Coventry rather than just dropping down the pyramid and playing at a more local ground?

ol' Slippery at Solihull Moors perhaps?

I visited the Ricoh for the first time last Saturday and, despite getting ripped off for a tenner in the car park, I thought it was a fantastic set-up. I admit to not really knowing the full ins and outs of the situation but it appears on the face of it that Wasps RFC have hijacked the stadium and left Coventry potentially homeless which leaves me feeling uncomfortable. I admit though to not knowing where all the blame lies and understand the the clubs owners aren’t exactly held in high regard by the supporters. I have a lot of empathy for Coventry, it resonates with our own particular set of stadium problems and, as usual, it’s the real supporters who lose out. It will be a shame if the stadium is lost to them and football in general.

Should the EFL not be helping them find a new ground, rather than threatening with expulsion if they do not find one themselves? Absolutely stinking attitude and not at all comforting if we were to find ourselves in the same situation.
"Find a ground ASAP or get out of our football league".

I think a big part of the ground problem is that perhaps half is owned by a charity the Higgs Trust. Whilst the original Higgs were I think Coventry fans , I don’t think that counts for much and the charity can’t just give away the ground or let it out to Coventry on the cheap when wasps will pay more.

Might have misunderstood all of this.

good point .... after all EFL outgoing chairman (and competition meddler), Shaun Harvey, brokered the introduction between our former and current owner .... yes, why not get involved in groundshare deals when required too

What I don't understand from what the FL is doing is why they publically set a limit of 6 miles then ask the Coventry fans questions involving a groundshare within 50 miles. It is really contradictory and sends mix messages to all parties.

At some point the football authorities need to step in and pass legislation that makes it illegal for clubs to be separated from their stadiums. We know as much as any how damaging this act can be, along with numerous others. This Coventry situation is a perfect example of just how bad it can get.

Our situation is pretty awful, but this is even worse. Imagine what could have happened if London Welsh had been allowed to purchase the stadium from OGB. I think that would have been the end of OUFC.

The fault is entirely club owner SISU. They are a hedge fund who have run the club into the ground. There were agreements in place for the club to get the council's share of the stadium, but SISU screwed that by refusing to pay rent, then by moving the club out to try and put the owners into financial difficulty. Since then they have spent millions on legal actions against the owners of the stadium, they keep losing, but keep trying again - one of the reasons for the current impass is they refuse to drop the current legal action. The EFL are progressing against the basis of an ownership that wants its own way and are willing to kill the club if it can't get it.
Whilst I am sorry for their fans, the hierarchy at the club deserve none.

I have heard similar to OUFCGav.
SISU continue to bring legal action against the owners of the ground. CCFC were given a years lease and told that this wouldn't be renewed if CCFC continued to go through legal action. They still are...
Having said that the way Wasos acquired the ground and the Councils hand in this sound very dodgy from what I hear from Cov fans.
A real mess.
The league have backtracked I assume due to further legal threats. So the original 6 miles has now apparently become 50.
There need to be tighter laws to stop property people stripping grounds away from clubs and trying to ruin them.

Wasps bought the final phase of the Higgs Trust share in 2014. Went there for Wasps vs Tigers not long after.

I like this bit from Wiki....

"In December 2012, Coventry City owners SISU Capital became embroiled in a high-profile dispute with ACL over the rent arrangement and a lack of access to matchday revenue. "................... where have we heard that before??

That aside I believe Arena Coventry Limited (ACL) are still chasing Northampton for legal costs for the row about the previous ground share. ACL pretty much accused NTFC of poaching the tenant that they were trying to destroy.

Did the league stipulate, it’s not as the crow flies?

Pretty much this, was talking to a mate who is a Wasps supporter and lives near Cov.
SISU are pretty much the living, walking embodiment of someone going to a meeting unprepared, being surprised at the fact, taking a negotiating stance of "go on, please...be your friend, don't be a meany" and then storming off in a huff when being told no (whilst setting fire to the meeting room on the way out).
You thought we were run by Walter Mitty types, just look at these guys!

I thought you were describing DExEu there, for a moment.
