Scunthorpe sack Stuart McCall this afternoon.

Up the yellows..

Out of the bottom 7 teams in League one, 5 have replaced their manager this season - Bradford , Wimbledon, Rochdale, Shrewsbury and now Scunthorpe.

Just Southend and Walsall have stuck by their manager.

Part of me hopes that teams who show some loyalty to their manager stay up, but not at the expense of Oxford!

I think those who have stuck will stay up. Continuity is really important unless it’s totally gone tits up, which it hasn’t quite for us. Scunthorpe have had a few managers haven’t they?

That's strange. They will be on their 3rd manager of the season and I can't see them appointing anyone better.

There's always next season. After another comedy xfer window, perhaps we'll have 6 full backs to start the campaign, and (obvs) no striker.

he doesn’t get another chance! Has to get it right next time, if he keeps us up

Those who have 3 managers in a season almost inevitably have had it.
Bradford. Fulham and maybe Scunthorpe.
I reckon it means that the players are not good enough.

Or the owners are psychos with no patience or trust

It does show when fans shout about sacking their manager, that sides who do often still go down. That might be down to the fact that the first manager has bought badly and the players are simply not good enough, but it also dispells the idea that any new manager bounce is sustained. Robinson looks like he will do enough to keep us up this season, but that is still a failed season. If he is to go, then it should be in the summer with time for the new man to build a squad in their name.

I agree with all of this but I think Robinson will be in charge next season. The problem he has is that the supporters patience with him is very threadbare. A couple of losses early on and the atmosphere will go toxic again which won’t be healthy.

Scunthorpe's issues was appointing Dawes at the end of the last season, rather than looking around elsewhere. Like our bad transfer window, they've been catching up for the whole year
