Ricky Holmes

His back problem is chronic and ongoing according to what we were told. The chances of him playing a significant number of games in a season is diminishing season by season. Although he was an excellent player at his peak and when he was fit, I think that boat has now sailed. You would hope that the manager has learned his lesson about signing ex-players of his who were both fit and good some years ago!

I guess that it was a risk deemed worth taking.
Anybody who remembers Dave Langan will not necessarily want managers to write off anybody who has injuries.
True in a way. But Dave was 27 when he signed. Ricky will be 32 in June. It's also a different era. Players could go from week to week by just playing matches with light training in between. With fitness levels much higher now it just wouldn't be possible.

Also, based on what has happened Dave Langan should have stopped far earlier than he did. Somebody should point out Dave Langan's story to Ricky Holmes so he doesn't end up in the same situation with his back problems.

I’m sure Ricky might also be happy to be trousering a massive salary compared to your average folk and playing 20 minutes once every couple of months!

I agree to a certain extent.
I still reckon that Spurs would still let Ledley King train occasionally if he was as good as he was at the time he as playing.
I guess that my point with excellent players is that a calculated risk shouldn't necessarily be automatically ignored due to what happened with Holmes

I am sure that Holmes is getting a whole load of medical advice making very clear any long term affects.

I remember a few times Robinson said Ricky was doubtful leading upto a game, but played on the day regardless..

I noticed that Ricky Holmes has yer to start let alone make the match day squad. I wish he would give up and quit for the sake of his long term after football future otherwise he will end up being criooled

He has doesn’t he? Too many players wanting to play on and risk further disablement
