Where we'll end up...12th

These are the teams we can't afford to lose against, truly 6 pointers.
Over the next 3 matches 3 points might be good enough as long as they are draws, if we start losing to the other relegation teams it will be a big problem, we have to beat the teams around us.
Next three games i think will all be wins.. .. were on a winning run which im hoping will continue (albeit as an unbeaten run ) till the end of the season (with perhaps a draw or two in the forthcoming series of matches)

7 points out the next 3 should steer us towards safety. Cant wait for this season to be over, no doubt more of the same to follow with Robinson already 'planning' summer recruitment.

A win at Gillingham would be massive, and drag other teams in and another home win would give give clear daylight. Dog eat dog until the end of the season

agree and we've got good record against Gillingham over last five games, 4 wins and a draw according to flashscore app

Just shows the impact that those injuries at the start of the season (and subsequently) have had on us.

Now, with good options on the bench, a settled team growing in belief and a calmer, more stable manager, 12th place may not be the Shangri-La we expected, but we can at least glimpse it on the horizon.....

Can you remind me of them and which ones are now back in the side making a difference?

I'll give Eastwood as being a major injury.

Samir Carruthers, whilst injured, has been fit since JAN. Can't get into this resurgent Oxford United side.

Shandon - didn't force his way into the side until Newport in the Carabao.

Ricky Holmes...........has made no impact to our side in the last two months, during our resurgent run.

Obika - the player everyone derided. Robbie Hall - not kicked a ball even during our awful form at the start of the season.

There is a fallacy that we've been impacted with a host of long term injuries.

The mainstays of the season, have been Dickie, Ruffels, Mous, Nelson, Garbutt, Cameron, Henry, Mackie, Browne, Gavin Whyte - Sam Long didn't even get a look in. Graham, Sykes and Sinclair only arrived a few months ago. That is the side we are playing with now!!!

Fair observations. I would argue you could perhaps put Mackie into that? He wasnt playing at the beginning of the season, can’t remember if that was due to injury or lack of fitness. But I think a case could be made that we’ve been better since he’s come into the team - not just because he’s a better striker than Smith, but also because he added a gritty, confrontational edge to the team that we lacked.

Don’t forget there was the mysterious long term injury to Mousinho that prevented him from playing in a defensive midfield position for the first half of the season.

Still makes me think we should have done more in our first season back in league 1. Likes of Lunny , Ledson , sercs , Maguire, dunks , Johnson , a fit Robbie hall , Toni Martinez , Mcaleny. Still think if we kept Jake Wright would have been making play offs.

Who would he have played instead of? Dunkley or Nelson? No real difference there.

Of all the players we lost that summer I would say he wasn’t the biggest miss, losing Roofe, Hylton and O Dowda in one go then the replacements not being up to it cost us.

For the first part season both picked up injuries and defiantly could have done with him.

I think if we’d had Wes Thomas instead of Kane Hemings up top we’d have made the playoffs.

So we agree Karl is talking out of his hat about injuries?

And...............in Karl's world we're probably still on a long unbeaten run (please note we didn't lose away to Accrington or Bury as this would mean we're not on a long unbeaten run).

Agree some injuries have been unlucky but surely we should have known Obika would again be injured at some points, Carruthers who hardly played last season would pick up an injury, Hall again injury prone, Holmes known back problems. Then other recruitment was just poor Norman & Mcmahon both shipped out, Hanson just doesn't seem good enough.

Like Ruffles passion for the club but first choice LB sums up why we are relegation battlers.

I think you need to stop listening to KR’s incoherent and injudicious waffle, particularly directly after matches. You’ll do yourself an injury.

Very harsh on Ruffles, probably our most consistent player this season and McMahon was hardly shipped out.

I don't disagree with the gist of what you say.

But I'll argue that Shandon Baptiste was sufficiently good in the brief glimpse that we saw to suggest that he would clearly have been a mainstay of our team this season, arguably keeping Mark Sykes from the squad had his luck not been so awful. Losing Shandon has been a blow.

Ricky Holmes was clearly in KR's plans, such that had Ricky's luck / health been better, so would have United's. Carruthers probably in the same boat.

Completely agree that Obika wouldn't have set the division alight, but nonetheless - our bench has been woefully thin at times this season as a result of all the walking wounded.

We have been moderately impacted by injuries this season - but probably no better nor worse than any other team has.

Yeah fair enough tend to agree with that, but the point I'm making would ruffles get into a team in top 10? imo probably not. re McMahon was more referring back to my original point of summer recruitment, surely he would realise the struggles of being so far from home when signed.

I would guess that we have probably been impacted more this season than previous ones.
This is probably our most injury free period but we still have 3 long term first team injuries.
Nobody could seriously deny that injuries at the start of the season affected us adversely?
Carruthers in the first game Eastwood before the second (?) Game. And Obika who I agree isn't the best at this level but may have allowed Mackie to have eased into the team rather thancomimg back and almost having to play all games?
Plus Hall and didn't McMahan havevacfew games out as well?
The start of The season was one of the worse starts from an I just perspective that I can remember.
