The five sites...

What`s to stop FK starting building on the car parks?
Once building starts on Grenoble Road (archaeological trial trenching/ground testing etc has already happened) it will be viable.
Chuck another hotel/leisure on the East Stand carpark, extend Denny gardens onto the overflow car park somebody might even put a train station behind the Science Park.
Until then there isn`t the pressure on the ground footprint but the value increases......
The footing for the West Stand are in place under the car park, chuck that up, increase the rent, apartments in the corners......... lots of options still remain at the current ground.

Of course if the football club goes bust, defaults as a tenant and is evicted to re-start ground sharing with Oxford City then the bulldoze option is the big win.

Ice Rink would be good, apart from cost and traffic congestion, you need good rail and road links, so by choice would try again for Kidligton close to rail station and reasonable road links

Down to three then, of which Kassam is one of them...
Ho-hum!

I don’t think they are interested in the Kassam. If they can’t build a new stadium I expect Tiger will sell up. So probably down to two or out!

I'm pretty sure at the initial fans forum it was explicitly stated that the Kassam was not one of the 5 sites. Personally, I think there are no sites and the whole thing is a ploy to unsettle Firoz.

If the two remaining sites are genuine options, then that's a better situation than we've seen since the first plans at Grenoble Road. Equally, if a deal can be done to get the Kassam at a reasonable price, then that might become a decent option - if only as a stepping stone to something better.

Of course, we have no idea how likely any of these options are!!

I'm no expert but gut feeling suggests similar likelihood as Chartle's Water Eaton project (give or take).

I have a feeling the clubs preferred option is a better relationship with FK. I remain to be convinced the finances are available for anything else.

Incorrect, working with Kassam is not currently an option.
I don’t think we’ll see much invested into the first team but money is/will be there for stadium. That’s what they’re all here for after all!

Have you seen what Thohir's background is and how much he is worth?

I would refer folk to the "Northern Gateway" plan already in existence. This makes clear reference to an area of land being released from it's "Green Belt" status and, what is more interesting, the desire for retail, hotel and entertainment facilities along with housing and employment. This is the sort of development opportunity that could make someone like Erik Thorhir very interested as an investment possibility. Much like FK achieved with Grenoble road, only with greater scope, this is a real possibility. A world class stadium (only smaller) with the ability to host concerts, conferences, exhibitions, other sports and home to OUFC with community access under OUFC majority control would be a dream come true. And, a very attractive feature for local politicians seeking votes. No green belt loss (already sorted) more housing, more employment and very little tax payer funding.
The links to public transport are already in place and could be further developed. Access from major roads is straightforward and parking would follow naturally to support both retail and entertainment facilities. Vacating Grenoble road would free up land for housing (and considerable gain for FK - and hopefully promptly deferred pending restoration of The Priory!) This would offset any loss of housing from the existing plan.

Interesting, thanks for posting.

Looking at the plan it seems to me that the land between the North Oxford BMW? Garage and the
Pear Tree roundabout is the most likely possibility.

I see a new link road is also being proposed behind that piece of land between the A40 & A44 to help with traffic congestion. The Water Eaton Oxford Parkway railway station is not too far away either so that would be useful too.

I’ll believe when I see it, but you never know.

Correct me if I am wrong but isn’t overseeing big construction projects Horst Gieke’s field also. I have always thought this is part of the reason these people are on board.
