See The Specials are playing on the friday night. Anyone been to Cornbury, any good?
One band I missed out on seeing originally so thinking about going or maybe see them in London

I've never been to cornbury purely for the fact that last time I tried they didn't sell day tickets. Id happily go for the day when the specials are playing but can't justify the whole weekend.

£75 for the day. bit expensive but think the London gigs are sold out so a trip to Portsmouth or Birmingham would work out about the same

Number one in the album charts I believe as well. Do like the track 'BLM' off the new record.

Line up now has only a couple of orig members of Specials remaining, Brad died, others such as Roddy and Neville have chosen to not continue in the Specials ....that said Steve Cradock (Ocean Colour scene, Weller, Steve Cradock band etc ) has joined on guitar....new (number 1) album Encore musically continues (so to speak) onwards from More Specials

saw em at their peak during 2 tone era.... also saw em ()orig line up) a few years back in Bournemouth , with Support from Stone Foundation ..... Stone Foundation are playing their first Oxford date at the Bullingdon May 10 th .... reccomended gig

as is Art Brut also at the bullingdon... in 4 days time 18th feb

I will be at The Stone Foundation gig. What a band!
awesome live band.... often have special guests appear at their gigs..... worked/ collaborated with Paul Weller on their last 2 albums inc the current one.... they, stone foundation, are supporting Paul Weller one (at least) 3 dates later this year too .... more info via their website ....http://www.stonefoundation.co.uk

Remember seeing the Specials, Madness and Selector together in Pompy, 1979 I think, awesome night out.

Seeing The Specials at Victorious in August.

Like the new album and the older stuff is of course timeless. Looking forward to it.

Brilliant that a guest vocalist on the new album is the brave woman who famously stood up to the EDL in this amazing photo.

Good lineup at Victorious, believe the mighty Doves are down there. Nice venue right down by the sea.

Yeah we’re there on the Friday so seeing Doves too.

There Goes The Fear remains a firm favourite. Black And White Town too as well as everything from the first LP and The Last Broadcast - particularly The Cedar Room.

Bit of cross-over with Truck on the artists but that’s no bad thing as we’ll just go and see some alternative things at the latter.

Cornbury is also known as ‘Poshstock” and yes it does target & attract middle England.

However it’s on my doorstep and I’ve been many times over the years. The three headliners this year are The Specials, Keane & The Beach Boys. A very typical eclectic mix. One year I saw The Damned play & the following year Kate Rusby!

I appreciate it’s not everyone’s cup of tea and on the whole it’s fairly middle of the road stuff, however I go with an open mind and I’ve enjoyed seeing Elvis Costello, Squeeze, Ray Davies, Wilco Johnson, Quo, Joe Bonamassa, 10cc, Paul Simon, Amy MacDonald, Echo & the Bunneymen, half man half biscuit, Eric Bibb, Buddy Guy, Marcus Bonfanti.

Note it’s no longer held at at Cornbury Park but at Great Tew.

Yes I saw the Damned at Cornbury. A little surreal and I bet they never thought that they would play poshstock in their day...
On the same second stage that day was Peter Green. He could hardly walk but he sure could play guitar.

Crikey all this talk is making my trip to Wembley in June to see Spice Girls extra lame!

Mavis Staples in the Uk for a couple of dates in June (I think) ...Bath Forum & Roundhouse London, special guests on both dates, Stone Foundation

Mavis was lead vocalist on many of the Staple Singers recordings on Stax

notably (IMO) -

Only saw Mavis Staples on Jools Holland two NYE's ago and liked her style.
