Barry Fry is an old school 'character' .... some of his quotes from his days when managing football teams are still funny

one that comes to mind was the time the team coach he was on got bricked, he was quoted as saying something along the lines of I wanted to head them (the bricks!) back !

I've viewed Barry Fry as a bit of a low rent version of 'arry Redknap

At least Barry Fry hasn't been in court for dodgy tax affairs and called himself thick as a defence. While BF is a 'character', he is higher rent version of HR for me.

I’m not sure that even Harry would take a grand out of a club’s ‘ petty cash ‘ and place an each way bet on his striker being top scorer
in the league - just to cover a £25,000 bonus in said player’s contract. Fry told his chairman he had Jack Marriott’s bonus ‘ insured ‘
but never said it was by way of a bet!

Fry must be mad.

Robert Maxwell did exactly the same thing. He put a large bet on us to win prompotion to the First Division and used the winnings to help the club to compete at the top level. He was very open about it and there was no controvery at the time so I assume it wasn't against the rules in 1984/5. It's a pity he didn't use a little more of the money to secure Jim Smith's contract extension.

I think the buzz sentence in the Ferguson interview was, I know Karl Robinson very well and I know how he sets teams up, well, words to that effect anyway. Home win hopefully?
