Ask Tiger

If the future is all about finding these little gems again and then selling them on they may has well walk now..what a great idea to keep breaking your squad up every season and then gambling that the conveyor belt keeps churning them out.
Does anybody really believe that we can reach the championship with such a model without further investment on top, let's not be fooled by play off places as that's another gamble and we have been the best part of 30 pts + from auto promotion. we've also seen players we've been in for go to higher based clubs and that's without bringing the likes of Wigan Blackburn and the bigger clubs that drop into league one.

It’s not an alien approach. Peterborough have got as high as the Championship taking gambles on non-league players who they could sell on. Crewe under Gradi developed their own players and bounced around second to fourth tiers. I can take your point regarding making yourself sustainable in the second tier, but it’s an approach that leads you to keep buying and developing talent.

As for today’s news, we’ve got a dud of a management set up, haven’t we? From the approach-driven professionalism of DE (whatever you think of him now, he’s been the only Chairman to nail the right approach with OUFC since the move to the Kassam) to the mess we have now. An absent, unprepared owner, an out-of-depth former schoolteacher as an MD, a scouting network that’s a shell of it’s former self and KR who is cutting a desperate figure. He has no idea where his striker is coming from and, whilst we all bellow at it being his fault, I think the real mess on this front comes from above him.

Why would any player want to come under? A year ago you’d have players saying ‘Kemar Roofe, John Lundtrsam and Chey Dunkley came through here. Sign me up’. Now what? No one wants to come – KR sounds defeated by it, missing out on targets and watching videos of new ones.

Can we get it started? TIGER OUT.

Fraught with danger unfortunately as come Jan the "talent" are courted by bigger clubs and either go or sign pre contract agreements..either of which disrupts the squad and potentially blows your promotion hopes.
rather see a decent squad put together and then the odd tweak if you go up and prefer they are non loans also. i still believe that this approach has partly contributed to where we are today.

Little point going up to the championship and trying to rebuild in the pre season summer and whilst your examples are noted do we really want to be a feeder club and at best a yoyo club..there is a massive gulf already in football prem to championship and then to our league and some serious investment will be needed just to even compete let alone survive.

I do have some sympathy with the aim of trying to make a club sustainable on it's own merits rather than relying on being subsidised by a succession of rich but ultimately mercenary owners. The problem is, without owning a stadium and getting the income from any businesses / shops / flats / hotels based there (for example) but instead having to pay rent - how on earth do you do that? If it's the 'buy players cheap, develop them, sell them on' model then it's a real gamble, and relies on you doing that every season while still somehow retaining enough decent players to keep the on field side going. Without a 'sugar daddy' though, it might be the only way the club can survive at a decent level.

I will admit at the beginning of the season I thought our player budget was higher that 8th biggest, I have only heard this recently. The expectancy it seems was too high. Even with below average injuries 8th would have been difficult. I think the club exaggerated the chances of reaching the playoffs.

Hang on a minute Bradders there are some on here who said Kashi is one for the club a DM to cover Mous. And as you say has no value to the club in any form whatsoever.

He has no value as a player investment. I was talking about recruitment and the model that Niall has today said he wants the club to return too. Signing a 30 year old, ex Charlton player that Robinson had, on loan, is at complete contrast to the comments made by the MD.

We should be signing young players, on long contracts, like Dickie, like Brann, like Whyte and like Sykes. All of which (bar Sykes) I know Tiger wanted and funded. Players who we can turn for a profit.

I also hope there's some serious soul searching by the OxVox committee who allowed this takeover to go ahead without a squeak of public comment despite the huge concerns even the most cursory of due diligence revealed.
Ah the reality strikes, no matter whoever is right or wrong on here this is only a forum for people to put their views good or bad and has no meaningful action to the clubs future.
The people who deal with the club and the millions of pounds required to run it take no notice of this forum, Oxvox, local media they have a business to run regardless of any comment on here or anywhere else.

I think people get to hung up on what they put on here and the perceived importance of this forum, this forum hasn't got any power just as Oxvox it seems, so apart from people venting there frustrations at this sh*te situation, nothing else is going to happen.

There are teams in worse situation than us, their fans have taken to all sorts of actions to try and change things and have not worked, when businessmen take on football clubs the fans are of little relevance when it comes to opinions.

very true @LondonRoader

The phrase … "recruit, develop and trade"
Who is going to recruit the players? Whoever recruited Garbutt and Smith seem pretty useless
Develop the players? Don't really have much faith in the man management skills of the current 1st team management to develop young players eg last season two ex Man City youngsters, despite their promise disintegrated under our management team and again example Garbutt & Smith.
Trade? Who is going to negotiate the sale? An ex school teacher, with not even any experience of negotiating a deal in business, not alone football. Or a Chairman who is not in the Country. Or Robbo!

So, in summary, they have buggered up pretty much every significant area of the club, and we can expect more financial difficulties before the season is out?

Wonderful......
To be fair Myles what do you expect him to say?
Clearly recruitment has not been poor and there have been cash flow problems.
I think that the club have done very well on the youth side of the club so don't agree with your opening line!

I'm well aware that the power of this forum is equivalent to a tramp shouting at the passing cars. But that's a different matter to the supporters' trust nodding through a takeover by an individual with huge question marks over him. Whether or not it would have actually changed matters is neither here nor there. Sitting back and saying nothing whilst the club is put in the hands of such a questionable individual, with a deal which sees the outgoing owner leaving the club in a parlous state is borderline negligent - and when you add in the gushing press release blowing smoke up the a**e of the departing owner, well.....

I agree that the Academy is probably the only positive around the club at the moment. With regards NM's comments, maybe they are the most honest comment anybody from the club has made over the past 11 months, but it hardly breeds confidence!

Yes I see Oxvox are pulling up trees at the moment.
So it was you on a public forum raising questions, at the time there was little support for your views as it would seem to be aliened with your friends missing out on their bid.
Love the use of that tramp line, I remember the first recipient of that quote and from who ?
How far do you want to take the witch hunt, back to willygate?

I agree, he chucked Oxvox under the bus about their Tiger meeting, maybe he’s trying to get some credibility with the fans after the constant criticism, I reckon he might get his cost cutting wish unfortunately.

Only just managed to listen to the interview. Depressing does not cover how I feel.
Our MD talks absolute B*****s. He has learnt all the necessary phrases to say nothing. He is nothing more than a pathetic politician.

Speechless, just speechless. I really don't know what to say.

Such as getting rid of Rev James. See dedicated post.

Trying to blame someone for not questioning tiger arrival.
Do you mention your fears to the Oxvov committee at the time about their actions?
What foundation was there apart from the reading situation which we didn’t fully know about, we didn’t know who was involved at the time if we do now.
Like I said, do we go to the catalyst situation that started DE departure to start the criticism.
