Ask Tiger

Never has the phrase You Don’t Know What You’re Doing felt quite so apt as a supporter of the club.

The buck stops with Thanakarnjanasuth, this crisis is his making. He is responsible.
Not entirely. A large dollop of blame needs to be laid at the door of Darryl Eales.

The fact that pretty much all club income is being sent his way until he has recouped £4.2m plus whatever Tiger paid him up front must be significantly hamstringing the club.

Ditto, deciding to stop paying the service charge whilst the arbitration process was going on has left the club needing to find the best part of £750k - £1m to pay the outstanding amounts plus Firoz's legal costs. And lord know what happened with the sleight of hand with the WPL debt!

Yes, these are things which Tiger should have been aware of, but we're now in a position which the club owes significant HARD debt to two previous chairmen.

Hang on a minute Bradders there are some on here who said Kashi is one for the club a DM to cover Mous. And as you say has no value to the club in any form whatsoever.

In our current situation its about survival. Bringing in a young prospect in this situation wouldnt be ideal....Kashi is on loan, we have nothing to lose and following Mousinho's comments in the week, we need players that have a realisation of the consequnces of the position we are in.

My main issue with the recruitment is KR just returning to players he has worked with before. That suggests a few things:
- lack of imagination
- only certain players withstand KR's sales patter
- KR doesn't trust anyone else

There is only one direction we are going and that is down at the moment, talk of sustainability is pie in the sky!
The club top to bottom is a shambles..

1) Tiger has no money as such, and drip feeds it in just to keep the wheels turning slowly, a dreamer thinking he could make a buck.
2) Stadium issues, we will not be sustainable while we are at the mercy of Kassam, the stadium is a building site and shite.
People just stay away, there is no match day experience or a team to be proud of, why would people want to come and spend money at the stadium? it would not go back to the club anyway.
3) We need capital investment, I'm afraid we need someone to stump up 30M+ to build or attain the stadium (four sides etc) to put us on that sustainable keel and start generating money to plough back into the club. E.G. Match day experience, conf center, away games on a big screen, summer concerts etc. All ways to make money on top of selling the odd playing asset.

IMHO we are on our way back to L2 and bobble along there, with the lease up soon I dread signing another one, when can we catch a break!

Eales is a venture capitalist - he will try every trick in the book to extract value from his investments! At least with him you know what to expect. He must have thought all of his birthdays and christmases had come at once when introduced to Tiger.

Well I'll probably get loads of stick but I'm staying optimistic about things.
I don't know who's who on here and what connections if any they have to the club but was said that the club was in a right mess when Darryl Eales seemingly lost interest and was selling up, so to get everything put right it will take time. Whether tiger is the right person or not is debatable but can understand moving funds into the country would be harder now. And surely if things were that bad people would be wanting to get out as soon as possible for the sake of their own reputations.
As mentioned on the radio, if we were around the top end of the table would people be so vocal about things.
Time will tell I guess but I'll be still behind the team with my support

Sorry, but that is a ridiculous statement. Fans are vocal for many reasons, not simply because we are in the relegation zone. The club has just admitted we are in a complete mess. Recruitment, the state of the finances, the fact we are told nothing of substance, our recruitment policy. I could go on.
Whether tiger is the right person, with what has just been admitted by nm? I'll leave you answer that one.

Depressing reading indeed. Just the sort of club that potential strikers wouldn't touch with a barge pole. However....Can't help but feel that the MD has been selected as a 'duty scapegoat' and will fall on his sword pretty soon.

Tell me, when the club goes into administration how many points from our massive total, will be deducted?

No doubt a well paid scapegoat though.

If the future is all about finding these little gems again and then selling them on they may has well walk now..what a great idea to keep breaking your squad up every season and then gambling that the conveyor belt keeps churning them out.
Does anybody really believe that we can reach the championship with such a model without further investment on top, let's not be fooled by play off places as that's another gamble and we have been the best part of 30 pts + from auto promotion. we've also seen players we've been in for go to higher based clubs and that's without bringing the likes of Wigan Blackburn and the bigger clubs that drop into league one.
I think NM is basically saying the money has run out?

Re Eales, I don’t disagree Myles.

However nobody forced Thanakarnjanasuth to buy the club, nobody forced the terms of the deal on him.

It begs the question did he actually complete the due diligence? Did he understand it? Did he just ignore it?

Yes Eales got a great deal for himself ,Thanakarnjanasuth willingly agreed to it, and we are where we are now as a direct result of that, and the way the club has been run since he took over.

Due diligence a la Darryl Eales:

1. Will I get a big chunk of money?
2. Will the chunk of money be big?

Anyone thinking there's anything more to it needs their head examined, quite frankly.

Considering Niall McWilliams background I found him to be very uninspiring. This may have been due to the situation he finds himself in, although when I first saw him at a fans forum I thought the same.

Its KR's turn on next thursday's 'five min fans forum' on radox 5.45pm ....which will be broadcast on Transfer deadline day (imagine the q&a with KR for the 5 min slot will be pre recorded?)

Also, did Jerome say KR would also be doing a Q & A a week today (9am- 10am), the day after jan transfer window shuts, live on radox?

In the mire is an understatement. I'm really worried about the future of this great club. I'm cheesed off with the PR sell from the club. We went to the fans forum before the Scunthorpe match last season. Met Tiger, KR DE and NM, they admitted they made mistakes ie Pep clotet. Bringing in KR will turn things around, go for promotion to the championship and look out for the WOW signings they say. Now here we are months later, in a relegation fight, HMRC been involved three times, NM saying things are going to be bumpy and the club have made mistakes this season both on and off the pitch. Are we stuffed for money?. Is the club spiralling out of control to the point that next season if we go down to L2 (Hope not) that we will rely on inexperienced young players as we are cash strapped and fighting to keep our league status?. Tiger I believe will be paying Ka$$am the outstanding stadium service charges owing, so will we buying or moving out of the Ka$$tad?. Will there be phoenix club out of all this? Who knows, I'm cheesed off with how the club is being run at the mo. Us fans plus OXVOX we need more clarity from the club. We must fight to save this great club

Around the unexpected costs, were we /Tiger sold an expectation that we would win the stadium fee arbitration?

Then it became clear we wouldnt and cashflow became an issue.

I know its a bit radical, but Mark Devlin, a very experienced football MD has just left Brentford. There would be value in getting him in to take a look at the state of play, advise on our options and plan, and lend Niall some support on the football side of things. Even short term im sure he has something to offer.

would that be Mark Devlin instead of or as well as a striker or two?

cashflow is a huge issue at oufc , personally I'd prefer any £ available was spent (wisely) on players

Id suggest the two are linked, and we should be looking for opportunities to increase cashflow.

Certainly appears to be a deliberately different PR coming from the club all of a sudden.

Previously promises of WOW appointments, 5 possible stadium sites, looking at playoffs (even though we were close to relegation spots) , promises that HMRC wouldn’t be repeated, criticism of Kassam, etc etc

Saying any old stuff that the Board thought fans wanted to hear, rather than a bit of honesty.

Now we have NM on the face of it being much more realistic and honest about the mistakes made, and bumps along the road. I suppose we as fans should be grateful for that but it’s the least we should expect in my view.

However we still don’t know what the ‘plan’ was, is, or will be.

Thanakarnjanasuth and the board are vagueness personified.

Unbelievable, Shambolic running of the club. We have been lied to, false promises, now this blatantly honest truth, that we, as a club are Fu*ked. Nearly 50 years of supporting my beloved club, but the same things keep coming around, s**t owners, lies, financially buggered, the stadium. This is an absolute mess and I am very upset. However, Oxford Utd till I die, wherever we end up I am a proud supporter of my club and the wonderful fans.
